I see Team Group has released the Dark Series DDR2-800 @ 4-4-4-12, targeted to the non-extreme overclockers (ie-on a budget). Apparently can take some high volts, but I think they're Promo ICs.

Can anyone verify this, and/or how these new sticks overclock? Any links perhaps?

Much appreciated.

I haven't seen any results thus far, but it sounds like it's higher binned Promos, which will likely do okay.

I'd put it this way:
They'll be better than Corsair/OCZ in the same price range almost guaranteed.

I wouldn't count on much more than DDR2-900 speeds, but that's just guessing :), & who knows what luck could bring you.

Yeah, you never know. Look at my memory: Elpida chips totally stable at 930 (running 912 right now) but with higher timings.

Yeah i've seen non-Micron do over DDR2-1000 speeds, but there's not much info on why some do well & others not.

Yes, they are using Promos ICs for the Dark Series. Just check out this thread on the TG forums, confirmed by Team themselves.
here

At the worst, they should be able to match Elpida ICs, and do DDR2-900. Of course, no guarantees with overclocking. I've been eyeing a pair myself, as the price isn't bad.

Well, DDR2-900 shouldn't be a problem, I'm not looking for extreme OC's. My OCZ Platinum is not even near that, and I'm planning on selling this rig and moving up to a 6600 with a higher multi. So I'd think 900 speeds might not even be reached. And the price on these sticks seems pretty good. Although I could drop an extra $50 and get the D9 stuff.

Argh, $50 here, $100 there.......before I know it I could build a second system for the upgrade costs LOL.

I'd still love to see a review on these sticks though, but they're very new, so I doubt any official site would have tried them yet to publish. Hopefully soon though.
