Team Fortress 2 Update

Team Fortress 2

* The Engineer's teleporters can now be upgraded to level three. It will recharge faster the higher level it is
* The Engineer's dispensers can now be upgraded to level three. It will give out metal and heal faster as it is upgraded
* Spies will be able to recharge their cloaking ability by picking up ammo off of the ground or from health cabinets
* Some changes to the second part of the first stage of Goldrush to give the attackers more of an advantage
* Any weapons that fire bullets (shotguns, sniper's machine gun, heavy's minigun, etc.) can now break apart the Demoman's stickybombs
* The icon on the HUD for a person calling for Medic will now give more information to the medic (if the target is low on health, on fire, etc.)
* Added an achievement tracker that will allow people to choose specific achievements that they are trying to get
* There is now a custom icon for death messages when the player was killed from a critical hit
* Added a new particle effect for when a player enters the water
* Added smoke to the feet of a rocket jumping soldier
* Players will now have some particles swirling around them so other players can see when they are overhealed

But the pyro was already a counter to them. God i hate pyros, when will they be nerfed.

But the pyro was already a counter to them. God i hate pyros, when will they be nerfed.

Pyro's have to be close to do anything. Just explode your stickies when they try to blow them away and they die. Demo's are the ones that need to be nerfed. They just spam and spam and spam but since it is TEAM fortress, you really need others to kill the demo's.
 
Looks awesome... but it doesn't seem up to par with the Medic/Heavy/Spy updates (no new weapons or achievements). Is this just a niceties fix?

It would seem that way. I think the engy/spy patches are still forthcoming.
 
Well, looks like I will be back to sucking at TF2, now that the demo stickies have become worthless.

You ain't kidding. Total stickie whore here. And proud of it. I'll stick one to your nuts and blow it up if I have to....... It's become my best class. This sucks. Anyone play last night? Did it have *that* much of an effect on the class?

I agree we should either get another TF2 night or a L4D night.....
 
I don't see why people are so afraid of demo's sucking. They won't. You can still get stickies down, you just have to do a little better than good ol' nade spamming which was absurdly easy anyway. When you had a team with 6-7 demo's and all they did was nade spam it was pretty boring.

Just playing around with the spy for a bit, this seems to be a pretty substantial buff to anyone who plays the class frequently. Being able to pick up remains/ammo packs and increase stealth time is fantastic.
 
The last thing the engi needs is faster metal, the extra healing is nice though. I like that there's a new crit kill death icon, before it was always a guessing game. Still not enough to bring me back to TF2 though, I used to pop on for a day or two when a class would get an update, but since the heavy one I haven't even bothered. I don't know why, but I just never feel like playing anymore.
 
that explains why my favorite server was suddenly full last night and I couldn't get in :laugh:

This patch seems like an awesome boost to the engie. You give them better dispensers and now even demos can't do shit against sentries as long as someone shoots the stickies. Luckily, I've already been shotgunning stickies if they dropped near my sentries; I've been called hacker a few times cause some noob demomen get upset after being ubered, shooting 8 stickies, and still not killing my setup.

Oh, and I'm a sticky/spam whore so I'm a bit upset... Haven't played it in months, might go back, but I just bought Left4dead and haven't played it yet.

Nah, the faster metal is fine. The main server I play on allows you to build 2 dispensers at a time and it's never a problem.

I played a little last night and didn't know about the update until I saw the big fat dispenser and went, "WTF? Is this some crazy mod server or something? If it is, that's a pretty damned impressive mod." Then I saw stickies being destroyed and said, "I'm never leaving this crazy mod server."

Seriously though, I hope the demoman nerf wasn't too severe. I hardly ever play them, but I've always been a fan of empowering other classes over nerfing the powerful ones. I primarily play the medic, and I like to think of an uber-demo as being the only 100% guaranteed sentry killer, since it's the only way to defeat a turtling engy in hard-to-reach-places (assuming the demoman is mildly intelligent), and I fear this nerf may have compromised that certainty.
 
Ouch, that really hurts demo... he was so much fun. He was even more fun when his regular bombs always exploded on contact, even after bouncing off geometry.
 
stickies were always secondary measure/oops scenarios anyway. Against a good team they will always be blown away if you don't hide them well. And there will have less impact to the ones who does the long distance blowup in air sticky whoring because chances that they will disable the sticky in mid air is low.
