LOL @ 1.99 for a mod related to a game i already paid for.
I think ticket is just a way to reward map-maker.

If you want to play mvm - just create a game.
It's one thing when someone hosts dedicated server for team-fights 24/7. Co-op is different. Just host a server for the time you play. You won't have problems finding people to play with(a receiving hate mail and death threats when you leave, shutting down the server).

it's pretty awesome they created that trailer with the movie maker. hopefully people will start making better videos than the music videos synced with tf2 characters. Although I'm waiting on that dmx video :p.

I wanted to try this and just ended up setting up a dedicated server on my machine and playing on it for a while.

Pretty cool reminder that with Valve games you don't have to use a game server provider if you're willing to use your own machine/bandwidth at home to run a server.

no. good thing tf2 got way too gay for me with all the hats/upgrades.

Thank goodness you did all your research before posting something that's incorrect, I know you wouldn't want to do that and look stupid or whatever.

You can pay the $1.99 for a ticket that lets you join special servers and get items, you can play the mode by itself for free on any non-Mann vs. Machine server.

That said, I thought I might give it a whirl and as soon as I saw the queue was 27 mins long I quite and just played a normal game.

I sat in the queue for almost an hour and just gave up. Hopefully it settles down soon so I can give it a shot, it looks fun.

It's probably not you. Some servers are terrible and this happens.

I think it was just the initial couple of games when I first loaded the new models. Either that or something happened when I alt+tabbed out. But yeah some of the listen servers are pretty bad. I was in the middle of a wave and the server crashed. It sucked because it took a while to actually get in a game. It's a pretty fun mode. It's almost like playing a tower defense/dungeon defenders/sanctum type game more than Killing floor.

i'm not paying more money for a game i've paid for over 2 years ago. i don't care if it's $1. if you want to, that's your business.

tf2 went to shit long ago.

I agree, I appreciate the fact that TF2 is still alive and kicking after 5 years but I feel they went much to silly in the game.

I want to try out Mann vs Machine but this whole hour+ wait is not for me.

I waited for 1/2 started to connect to the server but that was going slow too. I stepped away for 2 mins after waiting about 5 min and when I came back it was on the main menu :(

Just use the server browser and look for MVM servers with 3 or 4 players. You will likely be joining in the middle of a wave but I've been able to get into games immediately with this method every time I've tried.

Is the $1.99 a one-time deal, or once you have a ticket you can play all you want forever?

Use the server browser, filter by not full and VAC secured only (the non VAC ones are LAN only). Look for ones that only have 1 or 2 people showing up in it. Right click it and view players to see how many are there. Easy Peasy - played for 4 hours last night.

You don't need a ticket to play the mode. You need the ticket to play on special servers, you can play the MvM mode any other server all you want for free.

Did no one read the release notes?

MvM Bounty

Q: What is Mann Up Mode?
When you play Mann vs. Machine on an official Mann Co. server, this is called Mann Up Mode. Mann Up Mode allows you to earn special item rewards and track your progress through various Missions. To enter Mann Up Mode, you must possess a Tour of Duty Ticket.

Q: What is a Tour of Duty Ticket?
A Tour of Duty Ticket gives you access to Mann Up Mode, and can be purchased from the Mann Co. Store for $0.99. You do not need a Tour of Duty Ticket to play Mann vs. Machine on non-Mann Co. servers (i.e.: not in Mann Up Mode).

I tried a listen server on my own PC, and while it was working alright for myself and 2 friends, it crashed 30 min in (which is not an uncommon issue on listening servers).

I have a friend who is hosting a server right now. If people want, I can try to convince him to password it and I can give people the pw via PM if anybody wants to play with friends or other AT members.

i found a game last night by sorting through "MvM" maps, no password, and Not Full. (which is weird, i saw 7/32 servers, i thought MvM is 6 player max.)

anyway, joined one game after 1-2 minutes of searching. [insert Obama Not too Bad face]
looks fun, after 10 minutes of game play, my end got disconnected.... [insert FUUUUU face]

Is there a MvM filter or do you go by map?

I filtered by map, hopped into a server within a minute and played for over four hours. Its pretty fun, although I'm starting to get bored with it already.

Anyone actually used the ticket and gotten one of the "rare" drops. I'm kinda curious as to what kind of items drop.

This is annoying. There was a small update a little while ago and none of the servers have updated yet. Can't connect to anything. ugh.
