Searching for server... la de da.....

I really don't understand this either. Doing bootcamp. Whatever that means.

I give up. Going back to 2fort for now.

so as many have found out, the release has failed to deploy chute and hit the ground with a gooey thud.

Matchmaking is to blame.

no localization option means it is searching worldwide.
no filter for all the solo players who made their own server with password enabled, means tons of false positives you cant connect to.
if the ping matching criteria is anything like the L4D2 lobbies, you are guaranteed to be on the worst possible server despite having literally 100's of empty servers local to most of the people.
there appears to be a MvM mode experience var associated with your acct, god help you if they are trying to matchmake people of equivalent skill/exp.

even assuming the server system was working properly and most of the servers didnt crash 2 mins in to play, the 'min # to start game' var$ screws up most empty server you try to join thru server browser.

best option, go to steam icon on taskbar quicklaunch, and click 'servers'.
select tf2 as game, set map to mvm, find a game with less than 6 people.

if you do get on a stable server, you may end up in spec if the 6 active player slots are filled. decide what your wait/patience tolerance is and hope they win the map soon. at the start of a new map you will have a chance to get one of the 6 slots. if you have a low ping and well cached harddrive, your chances are better.

So, from all I've heard the MvM release was a catastrophic failure? I was playing League of Legends but my buddy said he was in queue for an hour and a half and finally gave up.

I'm sure most of these are related to the initial rush of people wanting to play.

Give it a few days/weeks and it'll be better I'm sure.

That's just crazy talk!!
People complaining about not being able to get the update or on a server really need to chill out.

Tried playing last night.....could not join any servers. Tried both the "waiting list/queue" method and just searching mvm_ in the server list. When I did the server list, only two games would pop up with 0/6 but when I clicked on them to join, it was actually filled with 25-30 people.

Can you not host your own servers to get around the waiting?

If its 6 player coop then most peoples broadband can handle hosting that just fine, I'm going to try tonight with my 50/5 connection.

1 hour wait? And whats with the $1.99 ticket thing? Thanks but no thanks

Yeah I was confused at first. Seems there are two modes of playing. One where you get rewards, and the other no rewards. If you want to get rewards, you gotta buy tickets and shit to play. I will pass on that.

Probably the last time I played TF2 was maybe a year or so after it was released. So I was playing the training mode last night so I could get used to the new UI and stuff. I'm kinda put off by how long it takes to actually kill someone. The shotguns are a joke. I think the handgun is actually more powerful. I had to resort to just sitting behind my turret.

So I noticed there is crafting, and I guess you can buy stuff. Am I supposed to buy or make a better weapon for the engineer?

The garbage matchmaking in left 4 dead was bad enough, but they they hide the server browser from you so it isn't even easy to work around the issue. Near as I could figure they never really improved the matchmaking either.

I made mine. The formulas are available on wiki. It requires a bit of luck sometimes, too.
