soldier, then medic if i have a decent team. Lately though i've been enjoying spy. definitely a challenge and I know when people get killed by spies they get pissed, at least I do.

Spy.

Nothing is more fun that hiding out on the battlements on 2Fort and shouting out "Gentlemen..." next to enemy snipers, who then proceed to freak out and swing their SMGs every which way, after which I come back and stab 'em in the back. :D

im not hating on the sniper class exactly. its actually a few people ive played with that could of saved our team but refused to change from sniper to something more useful when it was needed.

Indeed.

What I myself like to do when I do play as a Spy is to disguise either as a Demoman or an Engineer (just because their Spy detection speeches are the best in my opinion, along with the Scout), and then when I finally find my target I use the "this 'x' is a Spy" key while pointing at him, for example a Sniper, so I would approach slowly, uncloak and then shout "That Sniper is a Spy!" only to stab him the second after. It will even sometimes cause confusion (rarely works, but when it does it's funny to look at) because other players of that team around will look at that player and Spy check on him instead of me, and then they realize a second too late that I was the one being the Spy pretending that my upcoming victim was a Spy.

I like to play mind tricks around as a Spy hehe. Another thing I like to do when detected (and me knowing that I just got detected) is to start cloaking while turning left (for example, but it could be any directions, including back-tracking) and then when I'm fully cloaked I'm going right instead. It works well on 2FORT mostly, sometimes I don't have enough cloak when I finally reach the enemy's basement, and one of their players see me, if he's an Engineer I'm lucky because their Shotgun won't get me in one hit (unless I'm already injured of course), so what I do if they see me while in the battlements is to start cloaking on purpose in front of them and while it cloaks up I pretend to go left and towards the sewers, then when I'm done cloaking I suddenly stop and hide behind the big crate/barrels just by the door frame, and the next thing I see (9 times out of 10) is the Engineer shooting his shotgun while running into the sewers thinking I'm still running in, and then I just resume and find another target or go sap that Engineer's stuff while he's busy shooting thin air.

It came from a boot camp? I don't understand. You probably meant that TF2 came "from the U.S.A" or something similar? Please explain? I'm just curious.

I want to remind people of that too, that's why I typically play as the caffeine-fed, overworked nerd.

Sniper

I can be an awesome offensive and defensive sniper. You can be alot more useful on the team if for example in 2fort you get off the raised, standard sniper area and watch the lower parts (long hallway from the sewer area, etc). I can push forward just a little behind our main attackers and take out heavies and other classes that are giving the rest of us trouble. I played tons as a sniper in TF, some TFC, now TF2, and I don't get where the sniper is so underpowered in this one. He is fine, if he was much better than the whole friggin' team would play sniper and that isn't good.

Second to sniper is soldier. Pretty easy class to play I think. I think maybe skace means the coming from TF where the Quake rocket launcher was pretty much king and soldier was one of the original few classes when it first came out.

I think that the reduced capacity was needed for the demoman but not the soldier

you liked the pyro more when it sucked?

I did, yea.

It didn't really suck. Few people knew how to play it right so few people played it. That meant it was much easier to catch the other team off guard. You could blunt an offensive rush by getting the entire rush caught on fire. On offense the uber-pyro would panic defenses.

Now there is always a pyro running around so the psychological edge is lost.

The airblast has been a great addition..you can single handedly stop an uber charge now.
The backburner health bonus is nice but I never use it. The positioning required to get crits is so narrow that it's not effective and the loss of the airblast unacceptable.

The flare gun is useful for annoying people at distance but the lack of a shotgun isn't worth it.

It came from Quake.

Quake 1 players are exceedingly good with the rocket launcher.

My 32 man pub skillburner is crazy OP, but I still love it.

Before that it was demo or engi. Demo b/c stickies are creative at times... and engi b/c I can eat, talk on the phone, be in a haze and still be productive.

Yeah I hate that. I was on the bandwagon when it was empty now I can't find room to sit.

Tough question. I really have played it so long that I enjoy almost all of them depending on where my team needs me.

I probably kick the most ass as a Heavy, Scout, Demo and Pyro.

Ahh that explains a lot :)

I wish I played on-line back then during the golden days of PC gaming, the original Quake (which I played, but much later) must have been awesome back then especially with the first versions of the Team Fortress modification, indeed.

demoman and sniper, both are excellent at fragging albeit with very different styles

I only said that because I just LOVE playing pyro now that they have the uber-axe. I can actually kill heavies now!

I would have to say my #1 is Engineer (defense) and Soldier/Pyro (Offense).

The Medic/Demoman/Sniper are tied while I am absolutely horrible at using the Scout and Spy.

You know I don't use the Axe as much as I should be. Getting something lit, switching weapons, then closing the distance it difficult at best. Often, because of how powerful the flamethrower is at close range, it's just easier to keep the heat on.

Heavies though. Hmm... I should be axing those instead of just 0-range circle strafing. I'll be doing that more. Thanks!

Had a "moment" last night. Friendly sentry gun in the 2Fort sewers room... in comes an uber heavy from the outside (short hall) entrance so you know the SG is in trouble. I Airblasted the both of them all the way around the corners and out into the water. That medic had to have been pissed.

Too funny!

Quick tip:

When you spawn as a pyro or if you know you will be coming upon heavies soon, hit 3 and then 1 on your keyboard to switch to your axe and then back to your flamethrower. Now you can press Q to quickly switch between the flamethrower and axe. This is what I do and it works like a charm for taking heavies out with the axtinguisher.

Spy, definitely. I love the challenge of the class and have 82 hours played with him alone so far. I read reports of gamers begging Valve for a Spy buff, which makes me laugh because many don't realize how a skillful Spy can really create havok with the enemy's defensive plans.

I like the Demo and Scout as well. Valve made a great game in TF2.

Offense: Pyro/Soldier

Defense: Demoman/Engineer

Just recently started playing with the scout, although I can't stand how frail they are, they could be a big nuisance to the opposing team if played right. Plus who doesn't like beating people over the head with a bat?
