damn. I got it for 30 earlier today on Steam and ended up not liking it. At least this way I would have only wasted 20 bucks.

before you tell me I should have gotten Orange Box, I'll tell you that I haven't enjoyed a single player game in years and more HL2 and a short "innovation" weren't going to change that.

Sweet, picked another up for my brother so we can play together. I'm pushing 200 hours in TF2 and it still feels new every time I play.

How can you not like TF2? 😕

No it's not 😕

Depends on the map. Some are spamfests... true the more popular maps usually are the spamfests... but quite a few maps are real interesting. I got 7 backstabs in under a minute as a spy on a 32man server last week. That doesn't happen in a spamfest.

I'm a huge long time veteran of TFC (I still fire it up once in a while). I waited for years for TF2 to come out. Now that it's out and the design doesn't really follow from the original very much I've been...hesitant. By "design" I mean that they made it all cartoony. I'm sure it's fun, but still. The original military-inspired design from WAY back looked more like what I wanted it to be.

For $20 (tax) though, I went ahead and bit. Thx OP.

Not to thread crap on this deal, but I can't believe they charge that much for the game alone.

Still compared to the normal price, this isn't bad.

The Orange Box was that much a few months ago 🙁

Thanks for that, those were hot deals too, when it was $25 on Black Friday and then again right before XMas. Now it's $50 for Orange Box, so $18 for TF2, which is normally $30 retail, is a hot deal.

Not to thread crap...yet you still did.

Orange box was 29.99 from Amazon (thats when I got it), you saw it for 19.99? That is flaming hot!

jezuz, looks like I really failed on this one.

Looks like it's $20 on Steam this weekend too, so if you're looking to pick it up but don't have a CC nearby, you can score it online for $2 more, which is still good.

You're in for a good surprise.

Regarding game design: I know where you're coming from. The original TF2 development screenshots from wayy back gave off the impression it was going to be an ultra-realistic battlefield-type game with vehicles, uniformed soldiers, etc. When they released the screens for the current, completely revamped version I was taken aback, and almost a little turned off by how much they had scratched the original plan.

However, TF2 is indeed very, very fun. Many of the non-symmetrical maps are incredibly well-designed, and the classes themselves are unique and FUN enough to warrant playing each and every one of them time and again. Valve did a great job with the game, and the brilliantly produced "cartoony" classes are, upon playing, lovably badass (i.e. who doesn't love a fat man carrying a minigun). Remember, COD4 is always there when you're in a 'military-inspired' mood. And COD4 needs no introduction 😀
