TeAm AnandTech vs DSLR SETI RACE: Old thread (but please join)

Another 200 by Bandai....🙁

Lead...DSLR 1239 and pulling away....

Come on guys....we need to Rally...This is the first full day that we didn't manage to squeak into the lead at all! :Q

Are you (I'm pointing right out of the monitor) going to stand for that?

There is so much information we all get from these forums. Anandtech has given us a home for finding out from others how to overclock, how to network, or what the latest hardware is and how well does it run. There aren't many ways we can give back. One is to subscribe and click the advertising links and another is to join the TeAm!

Thats right by rising up in the world ranks and beating the IBM's (which we just did) and the Microsofts and Intels (which we will do soon) we bring attention to Anandtech.com. People become interested in finding out who is this TeAm Anandtech that is beating teams from corporate America? They click and they check it out helping Anandtech to grow more.

What do you get out of it? Well you get a team of knowledgeable people who are willing to bend over backwards to help you find solutions to problems. You get the fun of competition that drives you to want to eek out that last MHz from your machine. Most of all though you gain friends who almost seem like family because you have worked and sweated towards a goal.

We have set a goal. A goal to become the number one Seti Team in the World. Are there teams with more members? Yes. Are there teams that are more knowledgeable and determined? NO You see all we lack to get to our goal is YOU! We need more members. You don't have to have 100 computers. You're one machine can make a difference. It is the combined power of people that makes distributed computing more powerful than the biggest supercomputer!

So please if you feel you have gotten anything out of the Anandtech forums or if you feel that you would like to be a part of reaching our goal, the join the TeAm! 😀

I just joined Team Anandtech by going to the link and putting my login and password.

Is that it? If that's it then you guys just got another 124 🙂

Please people.. donate your spare CPU time to folding@home (http://foldingathome.stanford.edu/) which is researching protien behavior. These grad students at Stanford are working for understanding how DNA protiens decode and sometimes "misfire" which causes diseases like Alzheimers. SETI is also a noble cause, but really, even if (when) we discover alien communication, this world is not at a place to handle it with reason and understanding.

Welcome aboard to all the new members! 😀

But.....we have now fallen 1300 WU's behind....that is the largest deficit of the race. We need your help to shrink the gap and overtake DSLR in the Race...the race end Feb. 28th...so we have time...but we need you now! 🙂

Please join!

We will beat you guys Engineer... but still you tried... 😉

Crunch on people, for Anandtech or for DSLR, put your machine to a good use 🙂

Crunch on for Team Anandtech!

:disgust:

😉

<< Wheres the hot deal? >>

The hot deal will be proving Team Anandtech can win the race vs. DSLR!

Please donate your unused cpu cycles.

WageSlave: The hot deals here are unbeleivable! You only pay your unused cpu cycles, you get membership on a great team, you get all kinds of support in the Distributed Computing forum, you get to help kick DSLR's butts and you get to whoopass on teams like IBM, Microsoft and Intel.

I mean, I'm all for science and all...but seriously...

1) What is out chances of finding anything out there?
2) whats the chance we can decifer what they MIGHT be saying?
3) if there is anything out there, there is NO way we can reach ANY part of the universe unless we are willing to spend a BOATLOAD of time gettin out there...until we invent spaceships capable of going at light speed...

Actually, Mr. "Physician", the folding of proteins is of huge consequence in medicine. One of my consulting jobs as a mathematician has been with a pharmacy company applying stochastic methods and, you guessed it, computers to proteins in the body. The key part is understanding how a protein folds or meshes with another. If you can stop two proteins from interacting by stopping the folding process at some point, then you can affect a wide variety of problems.

You know, it's possible to become a M.D./Ph.D--they're the people who would really know about medical research. Becoming a regular doctor just requires a bunch of memorization. Anyways, just my opinion.

I for one support Team Anandtech. Anyone who doesn't must be a terrorist, trying to ruin the future of our research institutions. Someone call the FBI.

We need all the help we can get, whether you've got 1 PC at home that runs 4 hours a day or a fleet of 1000 PCs at work, every WU helps us! We've already accomplished some pretty amazing feats, we're #14 in the world, we've passed corporate giants like Apple, IBM and HP, and at our current rate of production, the next 2 targets, the Evil Empire (M$) and Intel should fall within the month, but we also need the help to beat DSL Reports in this race; despite the fact that they have several hundred more members than us, and a couple of guys with huge amounts of PCs working for them, we're fairly close, but we don't want to be close, we want to WIN!

:Q

!!!!!!!BUMP!!!!!!!

Got all my systems setup:
PIII800mhz 512MB PC133
Athlon 1.4ghz 512MB PC2100
Duron 1.0ghz 256MB PC1600

I'll try to get my roommates and my dorm hall to setup on their comptuers 🙂

Problem though, my average CPU time per WU is 7hr 30mins. Is that unusually high for my current setup?

and GO TeAm!!!!!

Great Shinj1EVA, welcome to the TeAm.

<< Problem though, my average CPU time per WU is 7hr 30mins. Is that unusually high for my current setup? >>

I think that is about right my average with
3 - Piii 866 512 MB
1 - Piii 450 768 MB
1- P2 233 64 MB
1- P233MMX 192 MB
is in the 10 hour plus range.

We are still behind in the race vs. DSLR.
We need more members and all your idle cpu cycles
Please become a TeAm Anandtech member!

go team go!

some of you people should shut your mouth if you have nothing good to say instead of thread crapping.

this is for recognition! Why doesn't Anand just close forums to paid users only instead? 😛

you Bastages!

Please Join TeAm Anandtech and support this great site by helping the TeAm win vs. DSLR
The race is very close and we need help from the subscribers of these forums so we can blow past DSLR and leave them playing catch up for good!
It only takes a few minutes to download the SETI CLI and SETI Driver and complete the setup.
