Started a new thread as the old one was large and potentially hard to read by all....

Thanks to all who have joined and a warm welcome as well...but we need more....

DSLR has their big producer back (about the power of 700 PC's or so)...and he's helping them pull away. Can the AnandTech faithful...with all the members...and all the PC's let this happen.....

I hope not! :Q Please Join..

Race stats.....click me!

***Notice to all those who have joined and are using the CLI and SETIDriver....Please make sure to add the shortcut to the STARTUP folder to insure that it will RESTART if your PC is restarted**

Previous thread info...

Hello all.....

It's that time again....we have been challenged to a new race with DSL Team Starfire...

The last race was a great growing experience for both teams but was ended just short of completion because of the sad day of September 11th.

Since then though, team DSL Starfire has outgrown and outproduced us considerably.....now it's our turn!!! :Q:Q:Q

A new race has started and we need your support.....all it takes is a few extra cpu cycles...just a few. The clients use spare CPU cycles in the search for signals and other signs from space for intelligent life or anomolies. They are easy to use, have little (mostly NO) impact on your system (even in benchmarks) and also help science too :)

Come on over to the DC forum and see what TeAm AnandTech is all about...you'll be glad you did!!! :D

Race Rules thread! :)

Race Start Thread (with stats links)

What team DSL Team Starfire thinks of AnandTech! :Q

TeAm Welcome thread with client information and setup links :)

Come on guys...put that new PC to work....support this great site and a great TeAm...

Team AnandTech needs your help.......please answer the call and defeat the DSL team...you'll be glad you did! :D

Team AnandTech Strikes back! :Q Buwhahahaha!

Ok people, this is it - we just passed IBM today and Microsoft and Intel are in our sights.

This is more than an attempt to get new members for the race against DSL Reports - We need to BEAT Microsoft and Intel too!!!

Please join up TeAm Anandtech Seti and help us in the DSLR race and help us blow the doors off of Microsoft and Intel!!!

I know there are a lot of AnandTechers who are not exactly fans of Microsoft and/or Intel. Right now we are currently 62,000 work units behind Micro$oft and 66,000 work units behind Intel. We're currently catching up to them at roughly 4000 work units per day. That means we can pass them in about two weeks' time. Wouldn't you like to be a part of that team effort?

That's just one argument for joining. We need all the help we can get in beating DSL Reports and defending the AnandTech name.

Oh, and there's that little matter of searching for ET, something civilization has only been able to do in the past couple of years. No doubt, man has yearned to search for life beyond our own planet but hasn't had the technology to do so. Now, with SETI@Home everyone with a computer has that ability.

Whether you have a P4 2.2GHz or a K5 133MHz, every idle CPU cycle helps the cause and helps Team AnandTech. :)

I've been splitting my time between W2K and Linux lately, but I don't have SETI installed in Linux right now. But I'll be running W2K for a while now, just to help the team :).

Actually, SETI@Home also picks up signals from various other astronomical phenomena, so there is a side-benefit to the search.

DSLR main producer dumped about 350 PC's worth of SETI today....one man....one man....are you going to let one man beat AnandTech Pride?

Yes, they have 400 more members than TeAm AnandTech..but consider that they have 55,000+ forum members vs 80,000+ for AnandTech......please take a look and join. Thanks for your support....you'll be glad you did! :)

How about those gues that run some other distributed projects? Like RC5 or something. Have you asked them to run SETI for now at least. I bet they could give us a nice boost :)

There is so much information we all get from these forums. Anandtech has given us a home for finding out from others how to overclock, how to network, or what the latest hardware is and how well does it run. There aren't many ways we can give back. One is to subscribe and click the advertising links and another is to join the TeAm!

Thats right by rising up in the world ranks and beating the IBM's (which we just did) and the Microsofts and Intels (which we will do soon) we bring attention to Anandtech.com. People become interested in finding out who is this TeAm Anandtech that is beating teams from corporate America? They click and they check it out helping Anandtech to grow more.

What do you get out of it? Well you get a team of knowledgeable people who are willing to bend over backwards to help you find solutions to problems. You get the fun of competition that drives you to want to eek out that last MHz from your machine. Most of all though you gain friends who almost seem like family because you have worked and sweated towards a goal.

We have set a goal. A goal to become the number one Seti Team in the World. Are there teams with more members? Yes. Are there teams that are more knowledgeable and determined? NO You see all we lack to get to our goal is YOU! We need more members. You don't have to have 100 computers. You're one machine can make a difference. It is the combined power of people that makes distributed computing more powerful than the biggest supercomputer!

So please if you feel you have gotten anything out of the Anandtech forums or if you feel that you would like to be a part of reaching our goal, the join the TeAm! :D

We need all the help we can get, whether you've got 1 PC at home that runs 4 hours a day or a fleet of 1000 PCs at work, every WU helps us! We've already accomplished some pretty amazing feats, we're #14 in the world, we've passed corporate giants like Apple, IBM and HP, and at our current rate of production, the next 2 targets, the Evil Empire (M$) and Intel should fall within the month, but we also need the help to beat DSL Reports in this race; despite the fact that they have several hundred more members than us, and a couple of guys with huge amounts of PCs working for them, we're fairly close, but we don't want to be close, we want to WIN!
