so i am teaching my mom how to use windows xp and i need help.
She has never touched a mouse or a keyboard in her life.
it is hard to teach my mom things
what should i do?

Is there some free typing programing to teach her how to type.

You need to find something that she's wanting to do on the computer. It could be to play games in Yahoo, or to chat, or send email, or whatever. Once she feels comfortable with that, she'll feel ready to learn something new.
 
My mom never touched a computer before a few years ago, and she knows how to email people now.. we all got to start somewhere.
 
I find starting with email to be the best - people are usually content to use nothing but email until they are more comfortable with their PC. Gather some friend's and family's email addresses and tell her to go nuts. Email is really quite novel when you first learn to use it.
 
It can be very frustrating trying to teach an older person how to use a PC/mouse for the first time. My advice would be to find a local class that she can attend to learn basics. Once she has that down, you can teach her more of the stuff that she wants to learn.
 
seriously you should probably teach her the things not to do like giving out personal information, spam, scams.

Turn her loose on shopping sites and she will figure it out.

I dont think he called his mom sad.. I think he was referring to the situation.

 
In my area, local organizations have free classes for the general public. In that environment, she could see some of the possibilities.
