The longest I've left my cat by itself, was 5 days. I put out 2 litter boxes, lots of water, and lots of food. Just in case, I left the food bag within easy reach, and left the toilet seat up for emergency water.

I never leave my cat unattended for more than two days, but I'm lucky to have a coworker who also needs someone to check up on their cats every now and then, so we trade off.

That said, after four days of no human contact, my cat is RIDICULOUSLY clingy.

But her and the 2 I have now, are always happy when I get home. The longer it takes me to get home, the closer they stick to me for the rest of the day. The girl's already clingy. She's like a Remora, and as long as she isn't sleeping, she's either in my lap, or following me around the house.

The fact of the matter is that the Earth is a closed system of finite resources and energy wasted on one thing is not used on another. I am truly sorry 2 cats have died in such a horrible way, and one that could have easily been prevented. Just because I point out the flaws in other's thinking without making much mention of the actual cats in question doesn't make me oblivious or unfeeling to their fate. I love how people react when pushed. They always seem to assume you disagree with every aspect of whet they are saying. Clearly the owner has her priorities skewed and zero conscience. She should seek help, no question, but a bullet in the back of her head? Lock her up and let her starve to death? Arrest her and send her to jail, fine her, or whatever, pullease... They're cats! Anyone eat some chicken or steak today? If I had to choose to be one of those cats or a poultry chicken or beef cow, knowing what my ultimate fate would be, I would be the cat in a heartbeat. The problem here is context. I'm sitting here railing on people for elevating this to more than what it is. I am pointing out that far worse things occur every millisecond of every day on this dust ball, and that people who think we should waste the resources of the legal system, law enforcement, and newspaper articles on something so RELATIVELY TRIVIAL is mind bogglingly callous. If you asked someone starving to death in Africa just how much they give a shit about this story they would probably cry for the state of humanity upon finding out that the rich busy themselves with autopsying cats instead of sending them their way.

I chose to speak out on this topic because it so clearly illustrates EXACTLY why this country is going down the shitter.
