We wouldn't have problems with it, if it was history rather than current politics. Just as I would have no problem with it being taught that Andrew Johnson was a racist.

So far as current politics, it should be kept out of K-12 classrooms. A teacher can do his or her best to avoid any sort of bias, but the ensuing classroom discussions are not likely to be educational or productive.
How do you leave politics out of social studies class when that includes politics? What do you during the election, just put your hands on your desk and tape your mouth shut?

I said current politics. Also, social studies involves the study of government, not politics, and certainly not current politics. The study of government is things like, how does a bill become a law. That is related to politics, but it isn't politics.

Maybe your social studies classes were different. In mine, we never discussed the behavior of the then current POTUS, for example.

In my HS social studies classes, we would discuss current world news and events, part of which was the current ongoing Desert Storm war of the early 90s. We talked about the Patriot Act and it's contents, and the reasonings for or against it. But we didn't talk about how good or bad Bush was, only his actions and decisions.

We also had a separate Civic studies class, which focused on government operation and logistics, both current and historical.

Social studies classes weren't partisan, part of class was just discussions of current events. We were also 14-18yo, not 4, and not being taught to sing some idiotic song ripping on the sitting PotUS.

If a teacher did this same thing, but calling Trump bad, it'd be just as depraved and pathetic. Four year olds should not be exposed to this, they obviously aren't going to be thinking about the things they're saying/singing. THAT is indoctrination.

Same reason people take their kids to church. You have to get em while they still believe in fairy tales and Santa etc.

Right, that's what I meant with my first comment on pg 1. Need them malleable and unable to tell right from wrong...have to get them slanted from an early age. And at that age, it's nothing but parroting, and for many of them, it doesn't change much even once they are adults.
