Teacher Dilemma, did i do the right thing?

sounds like you should pay attention and get to class on time.

also, it's pretty normal for math work to be done in pencil.

The teacher is anal. I would look at switching to another class if you can. He obviously does not care about his students as he blatantly gives a 0 for using a pen and not give them a chance to simply rewrite it in pencil and his second 0 was crap. The teacher just does not care. I would not want my child in a class like that.

Using a pen gets a 0 is a joke. I have used a pen when no pencil was in my bag during numerous math classes.

I have to keep absences to a minimum if i want to exempt all my final exams...AKA, i get to NOT show up the last 20 days and have a chance @ not failing my classes because i screw something on a test.

i'm not sure about you but quite a few of my math courses required work to be done in pencil. he's about to head off to college, which means things are going to get more strict, not less.

so are you looking for pity or what? most of the people here are in the real world now, not high school. we don't get a 0, we get fired for screwing up. we don't get to miss taking our finals if we aren't absent, we get to keep bringing money home to talk care of our families. so yeah, probably not going to see a whole lot of crying for you.

1 - You failed a quiz because you used pen when you were not supposed to.
2 - You failed another quiz because you were late to class.
3 - You feel that none of this is your fault and take no personal responsibility for it.
4 - You whine to your parents.
5 - You whine to an assistant principal.

That about cover it?

Sounds like your teacher's a prick. However, if it's a rule in his/her class that you don't write in pen, well, it's his/her right to stick to the rule. I'd come by later and ask if you could get partial credit, you felt sick, won't happen again, etc.

Beyond that.... well, life's a beach sometimes.

1-Yes, i was feeling like shit, but a flat out zero is complete bullshit, thats what i'm trying to call here, on the other hand, there is a virus which is keeping even teachers out of school and i got it, i've been feeling like shit for the past 4 days tyvm.

2-I Didn't fail the quiz, read again, my absence was excused and i was never told it was a quiz.

3- I take personal responsibly for it, but not all of it, its flat out bullshit that a teacher goes that far.

4- I don't whine to my parents, the find out because they get emails from the district with daily grades. WTF was i supposed to tell em, that i was jacking off staring at some hot chick on the other side of the class?

5- I whine to the AP because neither is the fucking teacher nor you going to pay for my college after my parent sacrificed everything they had in their country for me and my sister. So fuck off troll.
 
I think it's pretty bogus that if you write in pen you get a zero on the quiz. If he explicitly stated that before though there's not much you can do. At least he was nice enough to drop the second quiz. Also it seems odd to me that the class is weighted so that one quiz at the beginning of class is worth 14% of your grade.
