TEAC Buffer Underrun? Please HELP!!!

Hi everyone, can anyone lend any insight? I just got a TEAC 8x8x32 CDRW - installed in a snap - less than 15 minutes, using EZCDCreator from Adaptec. Here is my problem. I can burn half way through a disc and then I get a "Buffer Underrun Error" The session is terminated and the disc pops out. I am using Memorex CDRs 700MB 80min. My set up is as follows so I don't think speed is an issue....

Duron 700 -
Voodoo 4 -
256MB -
20GB 7200RPM -

Any thoughts???? Thanks for the help in advance!!

try not using other applications or programs while burning to avoid buffer underruns as that drive doesn't have burnproof!
also try enabling DMA for the burner & hdd. 🙂
 
Cool - I actually am not using any other apps as I try and burn to a CDR..Enabling the DMA can be done in the BIOS right? What exactly is burnproof? Thanks again!
 
Go into device manager and you can see the DMA box, check it and restart your PC. Also make sure your source(CD-ROM/HDD) is keeping up with the burning speed.

BURN-proof is something that prevents buffer underrun, the higher end model, the TEAC 12x10x32(CDW-512EB), has the BURN-proof feature.
 
I had some troule with my Panasonic, had to remove, re-install Adaptec.

Are you running Win2000 or 98/ME. Make sure you have a version of Adaptec for your OS.
 
Enable DMA for CD-writer in Control Panel->System->Device Manager->CDROM
Highlight your CDWriter ->Properties->Settings.

Also if you burning from MP3s - high bitrates like 192+ overloading CPU, you may have to create image first.
In Adaptec run "test" instead of "write" to save CDRs until you get stable burn.
Run System monitor to see CPU usage.
 
BuRNproof (Buffer Underrun Proof): BuRNproof is a technology that slows down or stops the writing laser of the CDRW drive when the data buffer is getting low or empty. It knows exactly where it had been writing, and once data flow resumes to the buffer, the drive starts writing again. It makes it impossible to get a bad disc due to a buffer underrun error, but can result in slightly slower burning if BuRNproof kicks in. The technology was made by Sanyo Corp., and is licensed to a few drivemakers, such as Plextor, TDK, and Iomega.
 
Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I turned on DMA in the control panel and just switch to NERO - it appeards to smoke on my system. I was loyal to Adaptec, but it looks like I have turned to NERO - thanks again guys!!!!!!!
