You can find it at computer-show.com. I don't know about the company but sounds like a good deal. only 36 left. linkified

Edit title to reflect SCSI. I forgot to include it.

No offense, but I don't see how this is a very hot deal...
Go to pricewatch.com, search for cd-roms. they have plenty for under $25.

Teac is up there with Plextor for best reader, but last I checked, the Teac 40X was starting at $36 on Pricewatch (IDE version).

eyor,
first, this is the scsi version, which is the very best reader there is...
it reads virtually any crappy cd you throw at it...and for $44...it's a really hot deal...go check the price for 32x scsi either teac or plextor..
you will have to pay at least $80 for one...

Great price

Teac SCSI readers are certainly up there with Plextor. Very reliable and read nearly anything. I run an older Teac 6X on one of my SPARC stations. Rock solid.

Cool find.....

oops! I apologize! I didn't even bother to go to the site. Sorry original poster. I couldn't tell that from the message.

sleepdragon, I would have to disagree with you on that. Plextor, by far, is the best reader money can buy. I haven't heard too many complains with this drive but that doesn't make something the "best".

I think that this is a hot deal. I paid $67.00 for a 32x plextor and $75 for a 32x teac, two and three months ago, respectively. I have also bought RAM from computer-show and it did alright by me. It runs at 146MHz FSB on this PIII600e machine. They also have good prices. Too bad they are in CA because of the tax bite.
Good price for a good scsi reader, but I prefer my plex.

Contest Time: Who can correctly tell me what the letters in TEAC originally stood for? Extra credit: What company did SuperScope become known as?

Ranger X,
I have TEAC 532S, Plextor 32TSI, Plextor 40TSI (ultra version), and I can tell you, TEAC is the best...it might be slower when comes to audio extraction...but when comes to raw reading power, TEAC is the best...I personally has Plextor 124TSI, Plextor 8432A, Yamaha 4001, and TEAC R55S, so I believe I know what I am talking about when comes to copying cds...

From time to time I will find some cd that just can't be read b/c the either crappy cd media or scratchs or bad sectors on the cd...and I find TEAC will read the cd that Plextor can't...so you tell me, which one is better??

Gee, I would have thought that someone would have known what TEAC originally stood for: "Tokyo Electrical and Acoustical Company". Sony was originally known as "SuperScope". Now, back to finding some great deals!

My friend has the Teac 532S (SCSI 32X) and I have the Plextor 40XMAX (50 pin version), and the Teac is no match for my plextor! But $44 is definelty a good deal.

Now lemme tell you what I have:
Plextor 8/20X (soon to buy SCSI 12/10/32)
Plextor 40X Max
Toshiba 12X DVD
(and have had):
Yamaha 6416S
Panasonic 7502B
Panasonic 24X
Teac 532S (sold to my friend used to be mine)

Plextor is the best CDR and best cd ROM, one thing to note is that my plextor 40X is the newer revision that comes with firmware version 1.1 (applies to 50 pin version only). Plextor is the best, and SCSI is the best! I only have the Toshiba IDE DVD cause i was too cheap after getting a 36LZX!
