Tea party loses steam

manimal

Lifer
The turnout on tax day nationwide for tea party demonstrations was tepid at best compared to the previous two years. The planned tax day rally in DC was canceled and the remaining ones in what was considered tea party strongholds saw drastic drops YOY

The reason I linked think-progress in this case is because they lay out each rally and show past attendance.

Rachel Maddow has a nice compilation as well.

I tried to find some conservative sources to juxtapose the argument but my search failed to find any of substance. Can any ATPNers find some that I can add to the OP?

Personally I have always thought the tea party was overly hyped and co opted by special interests like the tea party express and the Cock brothers. I do believe some of the energy was genuine as well but its hard to take a so called movement seriously when their spokespeople had very little to actually say...

Please watch the maddow clip long enough to see Sharon Angle singing.....

I really hope so. As a moderate I want the best Democratic candidate and the best Republican candidate to choose from. So far I haven't seen any tea party candidates who seem sane. (Not sure clips from Maddow and thinkprogress are going to convince anyone that teapartiers are dying though.)

Looking at sources, laughing out loud.

See you in 2012.

Manimal - this is a bet. 500 bucks says Obama does not win in 2012 presidential elections.

Bet or not bet? Money where your mouth is.

It does seem that the tea party pushed many moderates like Mcain and L. Graham into very troubling positions in the last two years. If the media would catch up and stop pushing the tea party narrative a moderate like Mitch Daniels may have a shot in the primaries.

I hope any tea partiers look at the raw numbers. Even Fox news had a small blurb.

sorry I dont bet the mentally handicapped..

I would like to see your candidate for the republican primary? I have voted for both parties in the past and would probably vote for Mitch Daniels if he survived the primaries.

Who is your choice?

BTW read the fox link...

Bet or no bet? Don't deflect. Bet no bet?

It's real easy. A few words is all you have to say. Bet or no bet.

You gotta remember, most of the people attending Tea Party Rallies have jobs and need to work to earn a living. They do not have unlimited vacation days and travel budgets.

The Tea Party served their purpose as an anti-gubmint vehicle for the big money interests of the Republican Party. Now that Repubs have the HOR, the Tea Party is a liability, their funding will fade, and they'll fade along with it. Puffed up to be sold out.

Current efforts are with Birthers, anti-tax dingbats, and the Fundies, as always, who've been sold out so many times you'd think they'd be wise by now.

I'd offer to take Spidey's bet, except I'm not prepared to grant him any credibility at all- I'm sure he'd welch if he lost, anyway.

Lot of them are old and probably died off or put in a nursing home in the last few years.

Meh, way too early to be declaring that IMO, should probably wait till 2012 elections to judge.

If there is a democrat victory and Obama is reelected I'd say the tea-party is pretty much dead.

This. The Tea Party will be back in full swing before the next election.
