TDK Rebate ordeal: A new HOPE!

For the folks that purchased the TDK VeloCD 12/10/32 drive on or after 01/01/01 from Buy.com or NECX or whatever non-participating retailer, I have new evidence that proves TDK HAD a rebate form that made NO MENTION of 'May be purchased from a participating retailer'!

Someone was kind enough to email me a printed copy of the rebate (scanned from the original copy WITH the URL and DATE!!!) This means sometime between 01/03/01 (the print date of the scan) up until they yanked the rebate form today...They CHANGED the information, thereby causing this whole ordeal!!!

If you purchased your drive on or after 01/01/01 up until they yanked the rebate, from Buy.com or NECX or whoever that isn't a 'Participating Retailer'...Send me a PM and I'll email you a copy of the scan. You'll still need to contact TDK, but unless they want a class action suit for misleading the consumers...They'll want to make sure you get your rebate!

There's one thing that i don't really like about class action suits...the seem to profit mostly the lawyers who bring them up. sure, you take part and might get a slight bit of money, maybe 50% of what you wanted after lawyers take thier cut, and a good company takes a big hit? so we lose a good company over a lot less money than we would believe, and the lawyers make off like bandits? just doesn't seem to make sense enough in the long run.

Fried,
I tend to agree with you, about the Lawyers part anyway.

But misleading the consumer to make a purchase on the belief there'll be a rebate and then NOT giving them the rebate because you CHANGED THE DETAILS of the rebate...I find that FAR WORSE!

Please email me a copy of the scan since I bought from buy.com. I am starting to dislike buy.com. They are pulling coupons early and rude stuff like that now TDK is freakin us over !!! Im sick of these big companies. I hope they do get sued. Thanks for the scan.

I have the rebate saved to my hard drive because I didn't have my printer hooked up at the time. If anyone wants me to e-mail it to them just pm me and i'll send it.

Folks: Keep in mind here that if TDK says "no, we're not honoring it," the extent of your documentation isn't going to mean diddly. Yes, you could pay several hundred dollars to sue them. But ar eany of you really going to do that?

CodyF,
You'll notice that ALL THROUGHOUT all MY posts, I put in Names, Numbers and PROOF
That thread you just linked just says the person called and talked to, don't recall him putting any CONCRETE info there.

What I'm offering is PROOF and backup.

MontyBurns,
That's why we have a Court System, Class Action Suits would be handled by a District Attorney...That works for the government. The hassle to us is making the statements. But I doubt it would come to that.

Mikiboy,
The Rebate form, before it was yanked, states you can submit EITHER the Receipt OR a copy of the Packing Slip.

about class action,

is that all you people think about. Like some people said here, the only people who probably benefit the most are the lawyers.

such as the preivous one against buy.com. do any of you know how much those lawyers made? if i remember correctly it was in the hundreds of thousands $

now do you no how much the consumers got. less than $100 +/- $100. so who's wallet have you really fattened?

why is it that everybody likes to try and sue everybody else when they feel they have been wronged?

DesignGirl,
So far, your so VERY intelligent remarks have been about accepting that we're 'pathetic' for screwing up with the Buy.com/TDK rebate deal, and accepting that we got burned even though the whole situation AT BEST was confusing.

And now you're saying we, if TDK doesn't make good on confusion THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR, SHOULDN'T band together and send a message to TDK (or anyone else that pulls this BS)??? Because the Lawyers would make out?

PLEASE, PLEASE people...Tell me I'm not the ONLY one that sees that this person is 'a few beers short of a sixpack'??!!

Namuna,

so, if you do get the $50 rebate from TDK......are you going to call buy.com and give them back the $25 that they credited to you because you bitched and complained to them how unfair this was??

somehow, I didn't think you would.
