TDK is USLESS, i need Anandtechs help

i have a 840G tdk (aka plextor) dvd burner

i CANNOT burn +R at all. i get 100% complete and i get the following error:

Burn process failed
@ 8X, could not perfrom disc at once operation

i also tried and 4 and 2x and i get the same error, DVD-R seem to work fine. i have flashed it to the newest firmware and still no help...

Try to burn with track at once and see if you still have a problem.
It should do disk at once though.
 
hey, thanx for the reply

nero doesnt let me change it to track at once, the option is not highlighted...

i am able to change it just fine with CDs, but not DVDs
 
Do you have enough space on your system drive to do DAO? If you're doing a full DVD i think you need about that much space free to do DOA, and your error at 100% may be at the caching files stage, not actually writing to disc.

yes i do, cuz i can burn DOA with -R's just fine

Yeah from the sounds of it the burning software is attempting to utilize a feature which the burner is not capable of. Play with the settings or try different software.

You could also have a defective drive.
