TDK DVD+R 8x 50pk. 19.99 Get them while they are instock

Good deal if you get the +R's that are made in Japan, which can be media code YUDEN000T02 or RICOHJPNR02, which are both very good.
If you get the +R's made in Taiwan disks they probably will be CMC MAG.E01 which are low quality disks.

The -R's can be TTG02 which I think might be made in Taiwan. I purchased a few spindles a while back from Costco that were 4X -R's made in Japan which were TTG01 media code and considered excellent disks. They are 4X disks I burn at 8X.

I just remembered that the Costco made in Taiwan +R's were definitely CMC Mag disks.

THIS MIGHT HELP

It seems like DVD-R is Taiyo Yuden, which is one of the best out there. In contrast to that, DVD+R makes me feeling worry because of CMC. But the rest are Richo, TDK and Taiyo Yuden, which are the best products.

Actually Taiyo Yudens -R media code is TYG02. Look up what a Fuji 8X -R disk is here The TTG02 I think is actually TDK's own media. I've used the TTG01 which are 4X rated -R's that I bought at Costco and they burn perfectly at 8X on my NEC 2500a.

Others have had other successes and dislikes here

Some say the TTG01 is better than the TTG02 here

I see, thanks for more info. I thought TTG is by Taiyo Yuden as well. (Media compatibility chart for Optorite DD0203 says it's made by Taiyo Yuden. I assumed it's right)

Hmmm...
Maybe I am wrong. According to your Optorite list that's what it says. TT's might be Taiyo Yudens as well. Really doesn't matter since TTG01's are supposed to be first tier disks along with TY's. Thanks for the info.

I bought a 25 pack of TDK 8x -Rs three weeks ago from BB and they were TTG02. Worked great in my 3500a, 100% sucess rate.

Staples also has the sony +R and -R 8X for the same price this weekend, if both are made in Japan, then the media code would be yuden02 and sonyD01, and if made in tawain, then I dont know the media code

I have both TDK DVD-R 4x and 8x.

4x is TTG01
8x is TTG02

Bought them in pack of 25 tho. 8x were from BB ($4/25pack) and 4x were from Costco a while back.

There are a few reviews regarding media code SONY D11 here. Does anyone else has experience with this media?

Thanks!

I bought three 50-packs. I don't have my burner yet, and just now realized my Lite-on reader doesn't handle +R discs, so I can't read the media code. Oh well.

I picked out all the gems with "made in Japan" and my UPCs match this code
I am placing my bets that I just bought 150 TYs... 🙂

Went to BB earlier, the +R's were all made in japan and the -R's were all made in Taiwan. Picked up the +R's. Thanks

I saw these at my BB today. There were like 8 packs made in Taiwan and only one made in Japan (DVD+Rs). Too bad I don't need discs right now. By the time I run out of discs, I'm hoping there will be deals on 12x-16x media, not to mentaion a drop in the price of DL discs.

They are very good quality, burnt at 16X with my BenQ 1620A with the latest retail firmware. The average PI is 7 and max PI is 17.

Picked up the last pack of 50 -Rs yesterday at the Best Buy in East Hanover, NJ. Lots of +Rs still left, though.

I have used TDK branded -R discs for about a year now any never had a bad burn out of about 100. They were all 4X previously purchased at BB, CC or Costco.

50 pk +R Sony(Japan) got @ Staples is Yuden000 T02 as well..these appear to be a better batch than the Fuji Yuden000 T02 had gotten from BB.

Thank's!!!! I just ran out of disc's!

I don't live near a Best Buy so I called ahead to make sure thay had some.

The clerk said that they were in the flyer and were $19.99 after rebate???? and that they would not match BestBuy.com.

So I am now waiting for the email from bestbuy.com saying that they are ready to be picked up in store 😀

Edit- turns out the clerk was a little confused,I got the flyer while I was there, and it says "instant" rebate still.

My BB (south FL) had mostly Made in Taiwan, but a handful of packages had a sticker over the original label with a different UPC and "Made in Japan". Some of the case bottoms were white and others were black. Both turned out to be YUDEN000T02.

The same BB had Made in Japan Fuji 100 packs for 39.95, which works out to the same cost per disk as the TDK's. These were also YUDEN000T02.

DVDInfoPro lists write strategies of 4x, 8x and 12x for these disks. In my cheapo MicroAdvantage/Aopen 16x burner, the first 10% burned at 6x, the next 70% at 8x and the last 20% at 12x, for an average speed of 8.5x.
