Correct Spindles... They also say , compatible with 4x drives only. Check out http://www.tdk.com/dvdinfo for details.

Seems they have a firmware update for the second generation 2.4max drives to be compatible with 4x media.

Whew!

I got in on this yesterday cause on fatwallet i saw the price would be dropped, my results so far are perfect 4x burns with DVD+Rs and I got 2x DVD-Rs. I use a nec 1100A for the +Rs and an external Lacie Firewire which i think is a pioneer with the -Rs and have had 0 problems.

Funny, I was just coming to the forum to post this deal, after seeing the shelf tag randomly at a B&M. Looks like a great deal on quality +R discs. Even better when your sibling works there - the 10% off covers tax!

Cheers,

This deal is hot $1.50/each can't be that...I got the last four 20 packs at my nearby target. Bestbuy has a $100 TDK 4X DVD+R for $190 which comes out to $1.90/each. Then they have 25 and 50 packs of 4X DVD+R memorex, verbatim, tdk for $2/each a dvd that is. Fry's has TDK 4X DVD+R 50 pack for $100 which is $2/each.

One reason DVD+R is better than DVD-R is if it says 4X then it'll burn 4X which isn't always the case with -R. One 100pack of ritek burned at 4X and the other only at 2X even though they were bought from the same place one week apart.

4X DVD+R burn time for 4.36GB is 14mins
4X DVD-R burn time for 4.36GB is 16mins
Why the 2 min difference? Simple...dvd+r doesn't take a minute to open a session and a minute to close a session like DVD-R does.

My old Toshiba stand alone DVD player reads both DVD+R and DVD-R, but my Apex AD1500 only reads DVD-R well, so my preference for nowis DVD-R.

You must have the sony dru500a? It has troubles burning 4x rated media at 4x :)

The +R media is made by Richoh so it's good stuff.
I picked up 3 packs the other day.

I didn't get the -R so I don't know who makes them.

these discs worked fine @ 2.4x contrary to what the other guy said about needing a firmware upgrade. I have an NEC 1000A DVD+R burner.

actually I detemined it's not the sony but rather Ritek instead. The first 100 pack I bought burned at 4X then a week later I bought the same 100 pack of Ritek 4X G04 from rima.com and lo and behold only burned at 2X. No biggie just $180 down the drain. Never again will I use dvd-r...it's too old of a format for my tastes.

Why dvd+rw is superior to dvd-rw

Thanks, got mine. This is a pretty good deal on DVD+R at a price of $1.50 per disk.
The only better deal that I saw was at Office Depot where it was selling for $25 for 20.

If your Target is sold out, you can get a rain check--just give the following number to the service desk: 057050380 (for DVD+R; good thru 1st week of August).

The checkout lady ask me if i want to apply for a Target card, and if i do, i take 10% off. So guys, if you don't have one, apply for it, and you will get an additional 10% off.
