TDK 32X VeloCD CD-RW Drive w. 10 cdrs 89.99 after MIR @ Costco

Costco BM has the TDK 32x Burner with 10 CD-Rs for 139-50 Costco rebate=89.99...not bad but seeing 32x is only 15 secs faster than a 24x and I have several Plextor and Liteon 24xs, I passed on it

Pretty hot deal. I bought this drive for $119 after rebate at Costco just a few weeks ago. I haven't seen it anywhere near this cheap.

(As an added bonus, the 10 free CDR's are Taiyo Yudens...)

Anyway, if you're on the fence, I can enthusiastically recommend this drive. Very solid package. In addition to the incredibly fast burning, it has the best DAE (digital audio extraction) I've ever seen. Significantly faster than my Plex24x and Lite-on 24x.

My only gripe is that the drive mechanism for opening and closing the tray seems painfully slow... I guess that's not really a good enough reason not to actually BUY the thing.....

Hey Monty, the TDKs don't support SD2 copying right? I have a Plex 24x and a lite on 24x that do it but just curious

Good question. I had a much older TDK drive that didn't, but I haven't tried with this one. I will tonight and let you know.

(In the meantime, I'm sure lots of people will post their own "theories" about whether it does or it doesn't... 🙂 if anyone has actually TRIED IT and can report back to us, that would certainly be a bit more helpful.)
