Not that great of a deal. Are these 80minute cdrs? There use to be a 100 pack for $10 after coupon and rebate a while back.

The deal at Target that got my attention this week was the Memorex CD/Cassette Boom Box with MP3 capability for $90. It looked OK from the picture, but I get the impression that Memorex is one of the many American corporations that used to make high quality products that now market junk, trading on their brand recognition to command higher prices. Most of the Memorex stuff I've seen lately might as well be Tozai (the bottom of the barrel Walgreen's house brand).

Dont compare this deal to past deals...especially when it concerns rebates. if this deal is true, a 100pk for 30 bucks seems like a pretty good deal for TDKs, who knows they may even be Taiyo Yuden's. The 100pk your talking about was a long time ago...and i think it was 20 dollars for the tdk 100pk from compusa. Or maybe your talking about those crap cd-'rs from circuit city after those rebates. hey i have an idea..go back in time and go get your deals from the past. i'll appreciate the people who post the deals now.

Depends where they are made, I read on the newsgroups that even the certified plus TDK's aren't made my TDK in their georgia plant anymore. Taiyo Yuden is good but the Ritek TDK's suck ass

I still have about 35 of the real TDK certified pluses but I've not moved almost exclusively to FujiFilm Taiyo Yuden that are $16.99 for a 50 pack at Costco

They are made in Taiwan. I have used them and they burn pretty well. Also they hold up well. The Taiyo Yuden's are at Sears, 50 pack of them (HP white labels 700MB/80min) for $20. The TDK's work well for music backups and are able to play on most cd players and some dvd systems. Good luck.

Richie: Which newsgroups are these? Is there a specific one for cdr media?

Yep, I picked up 8 spindles recently, couldn't pass up on the deal and was afraid Costco may run out of them soon. As for the TDK, the only "Made in USA" ones I still see at my Target are the music ones, but those are ~$35/50 (and you can get 100 Fujifilm for this price at outpost.com, plus S/H). The data ones, both 74 and 80, have all been Taiwan made for a few months now.

Office Max B&M also has the same TDK 100 packs for $30. They are listed on the shelf at $44.99, but on Sunday they were offerring a $15 instant rebate.

Can anyone tell me which CDR are good for information you do not want lost, ie. photos, data, etc.? I bought a pack of the Kingston cdr's but am not sure if these will work or I should consider another manufacture such as TDK or Memorex?? Also looking at making audio cds if any or all of the above will work for that purpose. Thanks for any help.

ruate, as for audio cd, i think you should go w/ TDK, imation or Fuji, since those are more likely to read it on your stereo system..if your steroe is from sony, than it's very picky on what kind of cdr it reads...but if u have a pioneer or other brands beside sony, than any brand of cdr for audio should be fine..btw dont buy the cdr that label audio only, those are a bunch of lies to get you spend more money on it..
