This was talked about in this post:

Velocd

There is also a possible $10 rebate on the 50 pack of cd-r's:

TDK Rebates

I ordered this yesterday and I also had $30 in buy.com gc's so my final cost with shipping and MIR's is around $108.

Not that it hasn't been talked to death, but this drive kicks a$$! I just got mine, and I absolutely love it.

Andy,

You should probably remove that link to the coupon. Coupon codes aren't allowed here, you know that. =)

Also, there's been a thread on this exact deal for quite some time now, thanks for posting it again though, the other thread was getting rather large.

The only thing you can do with the coupons is let people know where they can get them, i.e., link to other deal sites with the coupon codes, such as techb@rg@ins.com or h0tde@ls.com etc. AnandTech doesn't want to be responsible for sending tons of people to a site to use their coupons.

just a heads up...

the rebate is from the Phoenix, Az center 52900...i think there was a thread here sometime ago discussing the difficulties in dealing with this center. check the anand history to be sure. so, be prepared to do a lot of calling to get the rebate back.

I think the fact that it was posted yesterday was already covered above. No real need to point out the same fact again.

Anyone know if this might be a rebadged Plextor 12x10x32x? I know
that Plextor has been selling their drives to a few others (IOmega)
so was curious if this might be one as well... If it IS...well, the
Plextor is about THE best drive out there to get. Fast, compatible
and a lot of low level drive features that make life NICE (Like the
RAW-DAO mode for complete CloneCD support..)

The new Plextor PX-1610A is due out in February, according to CDR-Info, see the news for January 16 on the main page.

This means that the prices of the 12X drives will be dropping, and I'll bet we'll see them going for around $150 without rebates by March, what with the PC industry just in the beginnings of a price war.

Ah, a PC price war. The only war where it pays to be an innocent bystander. ;)

There WILL be a PC (system) AND CD burner price war! Give yourself 6 months and buy a 16x plextor for $100.

Not offended at all. Just stating that it had already been established. Just like you were stating that you should get credit. :D

I'm gonna do it. This deal is a no brainer for myself. I just hope I will not be disapointed that I did not buy the REAL Plextor 12x10x32x. From the looks, the TDK is much more impressive than the REAL PLextor.

Andy,

You should probably remove that link to the coupon. Coupon codes aren't allowed here, you know that. =)

In response to that - there are no "bootleg" coupons allowed - buy.com has it posted on their site therefore - making it ok for a repost to my knowledge - admin or someone correct me if i am wrong - thanks for feed back - sorry for any trouble. Andy

It wasn't for a different company if you read the entire thread. XL did post it at the end of that thread yesterday.

How does this drive compare to the TEAC 512E 12x10x32?

Another individual here checked on this and the two technologies are basically the same when talking about burn-proof and the TEAC method. Do a search for the drive and you will see his note. He actually contacted the vendor to confirm.
