Since there are lots of threads about this renamed Plextor I though I would do one with many of the available discounts. This assumes you use buy.com and order by 1/31/01 (when the buy.com discount goes).

Go an register at ebates.com This gives you 2% off of your purchase at buy.com

Buy the tdk 12/10/32 with the 50 disk pack currently $220.95

use the buy.com $30 rebate

submit the $50 TDK drive rebate expires 3-31-01 www.tdk.com/rebate/rebatevelo.html
submit the $10 TDK disk rebate expires 3-31-01 www.tdk.com/rebate/rebate.html

Your cost $199 with shipping - $50 - $10 - $4 = $135

Now if you are into online trading and are not happy with your current do the $100 e-trade signup at buy.com (at the bottom of the main) and you are down to $35.

Keep in mind that the TDK drive is back ordered at Buy.com, so you're not 100% guaranteed to get it. The coupon expires Jan 31st and who knows how long it will take Buy to get the product in stock.

Show of hands: How many people here bought the TDK for $180 after MIR a few weeks ago and thought you were pretty badass, only to now want to cry that you didn't wait a MONTH?!?

I understand your concern. I used the coupon at time of purchase so it should still be an option. Have always had great luck with them in the past so I would feel pretty comfortable about this but you could always call and confirm...never hurts.

Mine arrives today by the way. I know what you mean about deals though. I got mine for $226.95 on Sunday and they dropped it to $220.95 on Monday. Tried the pricematch logic but because I used the coupon it did not apply. Still a great deal so I am not complaining. I had bought the Plextor from them for the same price as this after rebates but once I saw this deal posted I sent that puppy back....

I got my TDK for $176 after free shipping and ebates rebates about.... maybe 2 months ago? It was long enough ago that I'm not upset about spending $40 more on it. The 16x TDK is just surfacing so it's understandable that the price is dropping now.

Me is not raising me hand. I bought my TDK a couple weeks ago for $180 after coupon and rebate. I received my rebate and most importantly I have my drive. Good luck waiting for buy.com to get this back in stock.
