I am thinking about unlocking my 1Gig TBird. It has been running fine @ 1.2 locked (10-1) for about a year now, but soon I will be replacing it with an XP 2000+ and am curious to see how it would do running the bus @ 133mhz.

Have any of you tried the pencil trick? Does it last very long?

I unlocked by Tbird 1.0 using the pencil trick. It is currently running at 1.3 (10.5 x 126) and has been running seti non stop for over two and a half months now. I would up the FSB more but it only has generic PC1600 DDR in there that wont do 133 FSB.

thanks menendo,

I have a couple of errands to do then I am gonna try it.
Right now my bus is @ 120. I have micron pc133 cas2 ram and it becomes a little unstable if I take it any higher (because of the pci or agp bus)

Anyway I am gonna drop it on a new mb. It should be here Monday. It is an Asus A7V266-E and Corsair PC2700 XMS ram so iI don't think memory will give me a bit of problems.

Kinda funny though...when I first dropped in this processor, I could boot and run for a short time @ 10 x 133, but I would crash after running a few apps. Now it won't even POST at that setting.

xbassman, have you tried raising the Vcore a few notches? it might help you post and boot to the OS.
What is your CPU stepping? Because you might be able to boot @1300+ with Vcore of 1.85 with some medium cooling.
If you want to unlock you CPU multiplier(the 1Ghz T-Bird) you should connect the L1 brdiges using a B5 mechanical pencil and when you're done see if it's working. If it works You may want to put some clear-sticky-tape on them in order to keep them that way.

Yes I have...and I can't post when I do this.
I can't remember, but I think I have to change a jumper. (I have an A7V133)
It has been a while since I toyed with it.

The A7V133 isn't such a good board for overclocking. I happen to have one myself too and I noticed a problem which might be similar to yours: It doesn't matter what cpu speed u overclock or even downclock as long as you set your VCORE via bios the system won't boot. It happend to me with the 1007 bios(the latest official bios), though when I overclocked my cpu and the vcore was set to AUTO the board automaticly upped my vcore to something aroung 1.80~ but. If I tried to boot at anything higher then 1500 I had to set the jumpers manually to 1.85. Might it be you problem too?
