Hi, I found this message on many uk sites

"If the system is upgrading from T'Bird Athlon to XP Athlon, you are requested to re-install Windows. Otherwise, the SSE function will not work."

has anyone heard anything like this? is it for all windows?
I cracked and burned my Tbird and just replaced it with a XP 1500+, I don't want to reinstall XP.
if anyone knows some work-around tricks or has more info on this, please post it here. I really appreciate!

I thought you had to re-install Windows to get SSE....At least that is what I heard too.

how do we know if SSE is not working? WinXP recoganized my XP 1500+, it's displayed on system info and directX info. anywhere in the windows that I need to check if SSE is not enabled? I run WCPUID, it reports SSE is supported. but under Tweaks -> AMD Athlon MP/4 SSE detections the SSE detection id always disabled. I don't know what this means.
I also deleted Tbird entry from Windows registry, but I don't see any differences. the big question is how can I tell if SSE is disabled/enabled?

That is a good question, you might be able to load a game and see what drivers it is using, like Quake 3....it tells what cpu aceleration it is using, such as
3dNow or SSE.

You need to do a clean install of Windows in order to gain SSE support. Just upgrading windows won't enable it.

Microsoft was suppose to be working on a patch for this but nothing has come out yet. It'll probably be included in a Service Pack
