TBird temperature question

I just got my 900Mhz Tbird with the MSI KT7 Turbo board with Global WIN FOP32-1 cooler. With no modifications, I am getting a reading of 51 degrees CPU temp. Is there something wrong with my cooler installation? I used the stock sticker on the FOP32. MB temperature seems OK at 31 degrees.

Thanks

My 1.2Ghz TBird runs the same temp as that and I have inferior cooling to you, so I would you should be at least 5C cooler...

gavsyl, i have my Duron 700Mhz@900 @ 1.55V and the temp is exactly he same as yours. Worse since i'm using a lower voltage. Same HSF too, FOP32-1, but using the standard silicon grease for 6 months now.

How can you overclock and use a lower voltage???

Does the Athlons not have a 1.7 core voltage as standard??????

I have a FOP32 on my 700 @ 850 and idle temp=29degrees and load temp=40
b4 I overclocked it was at 26degress and then 32 under load

For some reason, when my CPU isn't stressed it reads that the socket temp is actually lower than the ambient temp in my case (27C ambient, 25C socket) When stressed, it jumps up to 45C or so. I'm using a Taisol HSF w a 1GHz T-Bird @ 1.225 GHz on a KT7A. Since I've found these readings, I don't put too much stock in them cuz they're so screwy!
