I'd say save it. I know it doesn't seem like a fun idea initially, but watching money accumulate does have its rewards.

Or you could just read. It's not too hard to learn how to reduce the amount by learning how the tax system works.
 
Write a personal check in the amount to AIG. Might as well just save yourself some time and cut out the middle man.

Being within $200 is pretty darn good. If he was getting $2000 I would agree, but I wouldn't think twice about the $200
 
I wouldn't buy anything. I guarantee before the end of the year, you will be wishing for that money to buy a loaf of bread or something.
