Hi Guys, I'll be getting about $700 USD! from our Tax refund.

My old rig burned out last year T.T

What can I accomplish with $700 ?

A Gamers PC is what I seek, I need a case/power supply/ motherboard/ processor/ Ram/ Vid-card.

The Monitor/ Keyboard/ mouse/ Windows7, and a newish RW DVD lightscribe I have from my old rig.

Did I forget anything?

I am buying from a store like Newegg and building it myself.

I always thought the replies were meant to be posted INTO the thread.

Thank you for de-railing my quest for help.

And yes, I have Win7 Ultimate.

Shopping with $USD$ from Newegg or Newegg like site.

1: I've had bad rebate experiences in the past.......

2: I DO have a RW-DVD drive (I hope when the Power supply burned out it didn't go with it :p )

3: More ideas are welcome, it will be a while before the tax refund arrives.

well then there's no real point in doing a detailed build at this point, deals come and go and will undoubtedly be different by the time you're ready to order

WTH? We are just asking you to follow procedure here. The answers (and questions) should be posted into the thread that you create.

Anyway, tynopik's build is good (man, I've been saying that a lot recently! :) ). Anomaly's would be decent as well, but it has the utterly horrendous GTX 460 SE as a GPU.

THAT was directed at the Platinum member who said answers should be sent to the sticky instead of the thread.

YOU were correct in setting things right, I wonder how many noobish questions have been in Limbo thanks to Mr. Stickyhole.

OK, here is a correction:

Please post answers to ALL the questions FROM the post stickied at the top of this forum.

No good deed goes unpunished, eh douchebag?

PS. Are you ever going to come up with the answers to the rest of the questions?

One: is there a way to prevent a specific Forum member from posting in your thread?

Two: You won't believe what I've done now, out of pure desperation I used a Dremel to Mod this Slimline PC case so I could FIT an old Geforce 6200 PCI video card in it.

I was hoping I would see SOME small improvement in performance....

The onboard chip was a Geforce 6150 LE (or some such), this was just a chip and not a card.
But regardless of my efforts I think performance has dropped off.

So far all i do on this weak machine is play Minecraft and Secondlife!
And before you ask, yes I installed the video driver for a Geforce 6200 card.

That tax refund is so far away...

Anyway thanks in advance for any "constructive", "helpful", "useful" input.

Really what?

You've had some good suggestions already.

If you need more info...you need to participate with more questions/information.

Well my $700 (not one cent more) PC project is ready to begin!

I think I will go one of two ways, 1) CyberPower PC's.

2) New Egg (build bit by bit).

Time to get my rig back!

ok, basically follow everyone's advice and build one of the rigs designed in this thread. They are all good. DO NOT get the pieces of the build at separate times though. Get it all at once, so you can make sure everything works.
