How will you know if they deserve it or not?I give 15% if the driver deserves it. No tip if they don't deserve it.
Cab drivers accept CC's now? Wow...Since when?I generally tip about 25 - 30%, but I get 90% of my rides reimbursed. On $10 fare, paying by CC means driver pays the 5% charge, so a 10% tip is really 5% tip. Tipping $2 - $3 for a $10 fare is normal in NYC I think. I don't even think there is a 10% option on the automated tip-o-meter when paying by CC. I think it starts at 15% and goes to 30% in 5% increments.

I haven't entered a cab in 10 years(Blue Airport shuttle vans don't count) so if you're looing for why I'm surprised, wel...there's your reason.
I saw 10% when using a CC when I was in NYC 2 weeks ago... I forgot what I tipped though.

All those are part of their job description. They deserve it if the cab is clean, odorless, and silent. They also deserve it if they charge a fair fare (if it's a livery taxi).
They do in Austin. No idea what I tipped that guy I was too drunk to care so I probably just rounded it up to some flat number, pretty sure he did decent on that ride. :awe:
