Clicking around in Taskbar (XP) it suddenly doubled in width. Anyone know how to get it back to normal?
Thanks.

Move your mouse pointer to the upper edge of the taskbar, it will turn to a pointer with up and down arrow, click and drag the direction you want.

Thanks ch33zw1z. I tried your suggestion, but the up/down arrow refuses to appear! Looks like I'll do a repair install (XP).

A repair install won't change that setting, but it will reset a lot of other things that you probably don't want to change. If you aren't getting the double arrow with the cursor on the top edge of the Task Bar, right-click on an empty part of the Task Bar and look for an item labeled "Lock the Taskbar" in the menu. If there is a check mark next to that item, left-click on it to remove the check mark and then try to resize the Task Bar again.

Fardringle, I unlocked Task Bar as you suggested. I could not bring it back from its present double width. I could expand it even wider, but not reduce it to the normal size. Strangely, I could reduce it to zero--no task Bar! So now it seems I'm stuck with this ugly monster size.

With the task bar unlocked, try dragging it to one of the sides. Then see if you can adjust the width down. Then drag it back to where you want it, and then lock it.

corkyg, Nope! dragged the monster to a side and it refused as before. I think I'll just have to bite the bullet and do a complete format and reinstall. Totally weird problem!

That is the court of last resort.. Why not simply do a system restore to the last date it was OK? It may be nothing more than a changed Registry entry. System Restore corrects that.

1) Resorting to a format and reinstall is why Linux users hate Windows, there is almost always a decent fix.

2) Why no screenshot?! :p
