The Taser (we have the Taser X26) sends electricity at the same wavelength that your brain uses to control voluntary muscle movement, and it completely overrides the brain's capability to control your muscles.
A conventional term is "electro-muscular disruption" (EMD), but "override" is also an apt description, as the subject's muscles tense regardless of the brain's orders. Taser's advertising literature states that its effectiveness is based on high oscillating instantaneous current (average current is well within commonly accepted safe limits) and rapid pulsing.

There's been dozens of cases where someone with heart disease or on drugs have died after being tasered.
Do you have any info on a case which a Taser was clinically proven to be the sole cause of death - where stress from the incident/etc had nothing to do with it? I'd like to hear about anything you can find. :)
I would also be interested in links.

After being electrocuted by Christmas tree lights....I all ready know how it feels.

It's a good tingly burning sensation. The after effects are like sleeping on your arm and waking up like you lost a limb.

Yeah, it does put you in quite a panic.

..Except that it isn't legal to use a taser unless said force is justified....

If you have a heart condition can this make you have a heart attack?

Nope.

People with heart conditions can sometimes get heart attacks just from being startled...not real likely, but it does happen. If you're old and have a weak heart, it doesn't take much to send you over the edge. Be it a taser or a stressful situation. A taser is certainly a sudden, violent shock to your system...albeit one that most people in healthy condition can deal with w/o disrupting the regular functioning of their organs.

I want to know why the dudes holding the dude didn't get shocked.

The taser shoots two electrodes, and as such the shortest path for the electricity is between the two...not into whoever might be holding him.

Aside from muscle soreness and a tight muscle, I had no adverse aftereffects. No tingling/etc.

the current is not going through them

I thought it would shock anyone touching the 'perp' also?

As in the video with the 3 cops with their arms hooked together...

They had one probe on each of the outside guys, so the current went through all of them to complete the circuit.

We all got hit anyway..now if they shot it sideways so both outside guys got a probe, all three of us would've gone down... :p

And I'm afraid it's a bit overdone.
