LOL

I did try but um I am so lost with these stats I gave up.

Sorry guys I am used to seti type stats not one for each part

I dunno, but I can see the difference  We're outpacing TIMO....I notice they're not talking about us much anymore

I have been wondering what happened to the talk about passing us up. 😎 I think it is very cool that we are outproducing them now. And I hope that we can keep it up after TAS moves on. I guess we will see the impact they are making once the month is over.

Well, that a very good thing indeed!

I tired keeping track of the stats myself and wanted to post some daily stats in the TAS fourm but I have no chance at all to follow these stats. They're so strange to me. Some sort by GFlops, some by points, then there are computing time, hits and WUs. Also, the main stats site isn' really revealing to me when it comes to easy reading.

Anyway, I guess we're doing good and kicking some a$$!

BMC... Points is what counts now... GFlops are legacy I believe, and the hits and molecules seem to be more for the project than the stats 🙂 My stats can be found at fad.tastats.com... should be pretty clear there 🙂

From the FaD website:
What are GFLOPS?
GFLOPS is a measure of the processing performed. It is an abbreviation for Giga Floating point OPerationS. This supercedes our POINTS system which was a more abstract measure of performance. For an average CPU (1.2GHz) this will result in approximately 800 GFLOPS per CPU hour. (Each Point corresponds to 8 GFLOPS).

There I just learned something!

I always thought FLOPS meant FLoating-point Operations Per Second 😕

@Geoff: That's what I figured from looking at you stats page. 🙂

@GleeM: Actually, FLOPS means FLoating-point Operations Per Second to my knowledge. The FaD site just names it differently I assume.

BUT

Doesn't what Geoff wrote (=points) contradict what the FaD site says (GFLOPS: This supercedes our POINTS system) ?? Or am I completly lost here?

😕 when I polled the community when designing the stats, everyone said to use points, so I did... if I'm not mistaken, 8 GFLOPS = 1 POINT, so I'm not really sure what the POINT is (bahahahahaha) to having the two, unless the GFLOPS number was getting too big to be meaningful... kinda like 1 million pesos...

Hm. I just calculated the 8:1 thing and that works pretty well for my stats. You know, I don't really care if its points or GFLOPS. They're connected to each other and that's ok. As long as it's not hits or WUs I'm fine! 😛

Any chance TAS can stay on FaD for longer than a month, say two months ??
Edit:
There's a pretty please in there somewhere 😀 😀

Well, if there were some pretty babes and some kegs of beer in there that'd probably help more than a "pretty please"!! 😛

LOL... 😀

1 FLOP = 1 FLoating-point OPeration (from the first two letters of each word)
FLOPs = more than 1 FLOP
GFLOP = 1 billion FLOPs
GFLOPs = more than 1 unit of 1 billion FLOPs (no idea why they capitalized the s too since it's not an acronym for anything)
GFLOPs per second would be like an average GFLOP rating, or an average CPU rating. Which would be extremely unfair for those who have slower systems crunching for them.

Actually, that makes sense. If GFLOPS was per second, then only the top notch CPUs would make a good points there. So counting just how many FLOPs you have and not how fast they come per second seems kinda fair.

No, really: a GigaFlop is one billion floating point ops per second....2 GFLOPs is 2 billion floating point ops per second, etc. 🙂
