there are no gpu wus.

have you checked all the projects in your profile? some project currently don't offer any work.

I had trouble getting WUs when I switched to linux. boinc seemed to be looking for GPU WUs only and of course, there are no GPU WUs.

I restarted boinc and then the WUs started coming....weird!?

According to the latest stats.free-dc for Ibercivis, my quad is so good that it is taking 4 others to beat me!

Biodoc you got PM.

No go: the request for GPU-WUs blocks everything else.
I have done the following:
1. Updated BOINC to latest version (6.6.38)
2. Restarted computer
3. Restarted BOINC
4. Selected all apps in Ibercivis
5. Suspended all other projects
6. Reset Ibercivis
7. Detached from all other projects (had Ibercivis as a single project)

I have done this in different permutations and different orders.
The GPU really messes the getting of WUs up.
On one of my other i7-860 comp the WUs came in at once ...
So sad: the i7-920 is OC'ed and is really crunching along wonderfully - espacially for Seti@home and for climate predicition. It should produce well for Ibercivis too. 🙁

OK, bragging is encouraged, but only if you share the How-To. 😉

I had a similar problem months ago. It was caused by the project delaying downloads when you update frequently. This was different from the communication deferred time. Check your messages and it should give a reason for no work.

I got around it by setting no new work, suspending all other apps, and then setting allow new work. Then I waited for a download, which came about an hour later. I had no problem after that.

Yeah, but you had to get 3 others to beat me also!

You can "turn off" gpu crunching on that machine:

1) check to see if you have a cc_config.xml file in your boinc data directory.
2) edit or add the file to look like the following ( the "1" turns on the no_gpu option)

<cc_config>
<options>
<no_gpus>1</no_gpus>
</options>
</cc_config>

3) restart boinc

That "i" series chip is kicking butt! Is that typical for all projects or is it unique to this project?

:shocked::shocked:

i really don't know... I've only had this i7 860 for a few weeks... it was up to @4300ppd on seti before i switched over... it's not OC'd either... my i7 940 oc'd to 3.3ghz is at @7500 ppd... it's still going strong also... these are my only "i" without an nvidia gpu coupled with them so these would give the most accurate scores on how the i7 are doing. all my other i7 are coupled with an nvidia gpu or two.

This worked out just perfectly! Thanks biodoc! 😀

OK, back to editing the participants' post ... 😉

i'm uploading and getting work... i don't mess with ibercivis.. i.e... i don't force an update, i let it update on it's own.
I have my que set to 10 days and I haven't touched, nor rebooted the computer since last thursday.
Isnt' ibercivis the one where if you stopped boinc or rebooted, the wu would start over?

It's an old horse-racing term: when the horse you bet on finishes last in the Kentucky Derby you say: "My horse was so good, it took 19 others to beat it."

When I last checked, my quad was 4th in production, thus the reason for the comment.

EDIT: I just lost another quad!

ID: 119497. I'll be running it for about a week. I still have about 2 days worth of seti WUs that i need to complete, earliest due on the 30th.

This is how the field looks like:

Changed Rudy Toody's Computer-ID.

umm... you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him take a bath??!? 😕

Peter-- I would like to change to my faster quad: 118825. 3.4GHz instead of 3.0GHz. I hope I can keep it going!

Edit: I backed of a half-multiple to 3.3GHz because my onboard video changed all the text colors to purple. (Which means that it dropped the green signal, which is either the rod, the cone, or the Kermit; I can't remember which.)
