So... how do we determine the winner this month? Shall we wait until all the pending credits are granted (we could just count them too since every WU has the fixed credit value of 50), or shall we only compare the credits on October 1st?

Thanks

Tom

I propose that we add the pending credits to the granted (since all WUs give 50 credits) - thus we do not have to wait ...
Any other opinions? :Q

That sounds fair, unless they change it. It got bumped from 60 to 50 at the end of August...

Sounds good to me!:)

The question: how can I access the others' pending to determine the final scores?

All crunchers have to make their computers visible. Once that is the case, go to the TeAm's list of participants. There click on the name of the cruncher and the access each and every computer, the computer's results and - tralá - there you find the pending credits.

Alternatively: all crunchers send a link to you with their pending.

Alternatively: all crunchers report their pending credits ...

I just checked your pending. You are at your target!

I cannot win because my current total is not evenly divisible by 50. The best I can do is 10 under.:(

I'll post new totals as soon as I get my spreadsheet modified to include pending.

Will Tom Philippart be our first repeat winner?:)

Tom Philippart has 21 pending credits at 50 points each. That puts him right on target!

The only one who could possibly tie him is rabrittain. However, he needs a little more production to make his target by the end of the month.

caferace and petrusbroder have current totals that would put them either 30 under or 20 over. I have a total that would put me 40 under or 10 over.:(

18 of Tom's pending are quite old, but I don't know if any are worth 60 credits. If just one is worth 60 and somebody crunches it before the deadline, then he would toody.

yay this looks good for me :) (I have something special in mind in case I win )

I started crunching for the challenge right after the credit change, so no WUs crunched are worth 60 points. All my 60credits WUs were crunched in August before the challenge.

So, it looks like it is up to rabrittain to tie if he can.

Looks real good for you!!!:D

Ha, this looks good! If the challenges are this close ... :D
30/60000 that is 0.05% from the goal ... I feel OK about that.

OTOH: a project that has fixed credist is not as much fun as those where the credits change from WU to WU.
That is more of an art to run to a specific target. Lets pick such a project for the next challenge in November!

in case will rabrittain tie me, these rules apply:

If two or more participants reach their goal or the same number of credits (as calculated to two decimals) then a sudden death challenge starts:
who of those two participants crunches closest to 500 more credits.
The sudden death match starts when all other participants stopped crunching or have passed their goal.

We need to set an additional rule since this is too easy to reach with the fixed credit system.

Sounds good to me.

I just talked to Rex and he is really busy this weekend and may not have a chance to stop his computer in time. As of this afternoon his computer is bone-dry and getting the message about WUs are available but allocated to other platforms.

We can only wait for Sunday midnight UTC.

Yes, a modified rule seems to be necessary.

Petrus is thinking
still thinking
this is really hard - if we want to be fair.

Proposal:
This rule is to replace the rule above:
1. Let the crunchers look at their output during the challenge and post the number of credits they would crunch in 24 hours. They may use any number of computers under their control.
2. Let the crunchers crunch for 24 hours - when the time is up the crunchers detach all computers from the project.
3. The cruncher closest to his goal wins.

I think this makes a second tie much less probable ...

Current credit is 220,780.00 and I have 125 WU's pending. Ah well. At lest I *surpassed* my goal! :D
