I need to know Target's advertising budget for a marketing class, and the most recent info I can get is for 2005. Anyone know where I can find more recent info?

I would say go grab their financial statements, go under general & administrative expenses, and find "advertising"

if it's listed 'grats, if not then you're probably screwed

It's listed under their SEC filings under most financial sites (yahoo, google, msn, etc) and brokerage sites. I got this 2007 annual report from Yahoo. From that I get the following:

5. Advertising Costs

Advertising costs are expensed at first showing or distribution of the advertisement and were $1,170 million, $1,028 million, and $888 million for 2006, 2005 and 2004, respectively. Advertising vendor income that offset advertising expenses was approximately $118 million, $110 million, and $72 million for 2006, 2005 and 2004, respectively. Newspaper circulars and media broadcast made up the majority of our advertising costs in all three years.

I dunno about the amount they're paying, but IMO, they sure aren't getting their money's worth...

Target has some of the stupidest ads in the biz...(not the stupidest, just in the top 10%)
