Sorry for the mobile link, news at CNN et al.
Target has decided to price match the likes of Amazon, year-round. Although the article speaks of an "eligible item", I reviewed the price match verbiage at Target.com and it seems to include everything it reasonably should, excluding things like lightning deals.
Although this is not as big a boon for those in the as-yet holdout states allowing the (illegal) avoidance of tax for amazon and others, for those in amazon-tax states, what this affords is immediate access of items if amazon has them in stock and even 5% cheaper if using a target card.
This seems too good to be true, so if anybody has different details on an eligible item I would love to see them.
Why do I go on about amazon? Because nobody else matters.
I have heard that Amazon operates on laughably small margins, so for many or most items, given the overhead of Target's B&M they will lose money on this price match just to maintain customer access. If this pans out and doesn't kick them in the ass I have a new favorite retailer. Not that their selection can mirror Amazon, though.
