Target clearance - Microsoft MN-700 Wireless router 24.48 at Target!!!!

newark, california. picked up 2 pci cards to pair with the di-524. cost: 27.98 each. boo...at least target has 90day return policy. will see how this works.

on another note, i was nicely surprised with the netgear MA111, which i picked up as a cheap wireless solution for a downstairs computer. surprisingly good speeds and signal pickup too, probably cause im running it off the 3ft usb extension cord, which allows maximal positioning.

any comments on the performance on the pci card?

Thanks for the info...will check my local store and see if they still have these items. I need to replace my old router.

Hi Slacker,

If you want a repeater, you really need to buy a product made for that purpose. A "repeater" does exactly what its name implies: It "repeats" (re-times the signal, boosts the signal that was attenuated along the wire, etc). A wireless repeater would do the same thing.

Most wireless access points cannot also be a "repeater". Some APs can be used in "bridge mode" (used in pairs), but even they would not be considered "wireless repeaters".

Here's a wireless repeater that should do what you are looking for:

You might also get the performance you are looking for by adding an external antenna onto your wireless NIC or your AP. Adding antennas is very dependent on the type of wireless hardware that you have. You also need to worry about exceeding FCC regulations if you use an antenna with too much gain, not that there are many FCC "spooks" that would find you.......

NO Wireless routers available at the following Bay Area Targets:

Colma
Daly City
San Bruno (Tan Foran [sp?])

I saw 2 PCMCIA wireless G and 1 PCI wireless G on sale at Taunton, MA's Target for $27.99.
I didn't pick it up, because my router is only a wireless B.
So for anyone interested, drop by the store and pick it up. 🙂

Tampa, FL folk:

No routers at the Waters location, but plenty of PCI cards and PCMCIA cards priced @ $27.XX on the small shelf facing the stereos.

Still $34+ for the router and $27+ for the wireless pci card in my local Target...will wait for it to come down some more and hopefully, it's still there when I return.😉

Got the last router at the West Jordan, UT store. They had about 5 notebook adapters @ $19 left, nothing else. Thanks for the post!

target on redondo beach/van ness didn't have any routers, they had the pci and notebook card for $27.98

target on sepulveda by del amo mall didn't have routers. the notebook card was 19.98.

newbie question on wireless and bump for this post..

Do I need to use the microsoft pci wireless cards with this or can i use any name brand as long as they are the 108mbps ones?

Thanks for the update for the Bay Area ones - saves me a trip! 😀

Picked up the last two PCI adapters for 19.58 at my local Target today. I was shocked to find them 'cause this Target never has ANY good deals left. Thanks again, OP!

So would ANYBODY be willing to hook up a brother out ?

I checked EVERY Target in San Antonio, the one in New Braunsfels, and the one in San Marcos, not one WAP. But did snag 2 PCI cards (for $23 each). Let me know, I'd be willing to buy for a decent price (thanks (no more than $35 plus shipping).
