Tapatalk is really pissing me off. I paid $4.99 for Tapatalk 3. I paid for that to be supported. Now they come out with one to support after words and limit the updates to Tapatalk 3.

You can't just come out with new versions every 6 months, and re-charge your customers for the product they already purchased.

Your username is oddly appropriate for this scenario. And I completely agree. I use Tapatalk rarely enough as it is; when I saw the update announcement on my phone trying to charge me to upgrade I was shocked and appalled. No thanks. I already paid you for your product, and it still works fine; please leave it be.

Why shouldn't he charge you to upgrade? If he releases a new product with new features, he shouldn't get paid for that?

that's the problem apps...no business model after the release...hence inevitable "bug fixes" that remove features and increase ad presence
or this.

Is this strictly the phone sized version? I have both but no longer have an Android phone.

It's both, which seems to be the only perk of the new release. Now it's all one app for tablet and phone... you don't have to buy a separate tablet and phone one (which was BS all its own).

Funny enough on iOS they just pushed out the latest version of Taptalk (Tapatalk 2) as a free update for Tapatalk 1 users.

I have been using tapa4 since the beta and seem to enjoy the features enough to buy it for .99.

Cool, in for one. I had the phone version and I just bought the HD version for $4.99 a month ago. Good thing this one is cheap because I'd have felt cheated.

Edit: Well I guess I bought the beta or something because it says I already bought it.

What advantage does v4 have over v2 (i realize it's only a dollar but...)

What he said.

I've read more negatives about this release than positives.

As far as I can tell, nothing worth spending money on. It's nothing more than a skin on the current tapatalk app, and now the tablets and phones use a single app when they were seperate before. Every bug I had in the old versions is still present in the new version.

None. I went ahead and purchased v4 at the $0.99 price and it is truly a wretched, pathetic, barely functional and overall poorly written application. If you already have v2 save yourself a dollar and skip this.

$1 is too much to reward a greedy developer who spams you with Android broadcast notification about the supposed sale and emails you too. Junk email is fine but broadcast spam notification is a no-no.

i really dont understand this logic. it was a $5 app. the old one will still work as is you just wont get the new features. paying doesnt imply support for an infinite amount of time, what do you think software people work for free? they expect to get paid either by ads or more money if you want more work done.

i mean do you get pissed off every time blizzard charges for the newest version of starcraft or the newest windows release.

This logic makes sense if the releases are far apart like the first time they upgraded Tapatalk. However this release is less than a year since the last one. Then when you don't even fix the bugs that are in your previous version it just stings us customers a little. It's not that they don't deserve getting paid, but in this particular instance they didn't do much to warrant charging all over again.
