Well, I just came back from tanning round two. My skin is starting to get that bronze look, although I believe I burned my neck a little bit.
 
I don't tan. My flesh just turns red and peels off, eventually revealing a new layer of pale skin ready to be burned again. Occasionally a few freckles develop.
 
Nothing wrong with a nicely tanned female........... however, tanning is kinda gay if you are a guy....

Sure, if you are outside working around the house, that is one thing, but if you specifically go to a tanning salon to lube up and lay on a warm table.........

I retract the above statement if any of the following exists:

1- the hot ladies working there offer to lube you up
2- the hot ladies working there offer to tan WITH you
3- you have a PURPOSE for tanning: Ex. you are going to the carribean and you want a base tan so when you are out in the sun you dont get fried
4- you just wanna die and get skin cancer

I agree tanning is "gay", but I still do it sometimes, because you look MUCH better - er, I do!

I'm one of those people who turn red instead of tanning, I'm Irish. My girlfriend on the other hand can get a beautiful bronze tan in 30 minutes, she's Hispanic. I really don't get all those people who say, "Oh NOES!!! TEH SUNS IS SATANZ!!!". Sure, there is a risk of skin cancer from TOO MUCH sun but the bottomline is that, and a few of you have mentioned it, it all depends on your genes. I think the sun is healthy for a majority if exposed in moderation and the proper precautions are taken for those who's risk is higher.

I do (and don't do) things for SOLID reasons. I've posted links for those reasons regarding staying the hell out of the sun. I get too much sun as it is, let alone try to get "tanned", which is pretty dammed metrosexual, if you think about it. I believe that's what KingPhil meant by "kinda gay".

I also find it very amusing, that the vanity of tanning results in irreparably fvcked up skin down the line. Anybody who is that vain to start with, is going to literally be crying when they age prematurely.
 
Just returned from tanning,I'm up to 17 minutes now.The nice thing is that I build uop slowly and now when I go out in the sun I can enjoy myself and not get burned.
