OK, I finally stopped dragging my feet and bought the Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO Zoom Macro Super II today :laugh:

heh, i have the canon one. It's alright for what it is I suppose.. but I've found I can't hold anything steady for the life of me And the minimum distance for macro is just too far. I tried to sell it.. but no one wanted it I suppose it's a good thing, as I can't really afford anything else to replace it...

Ordered it on the 23rd. Got here today via UPS. Still think that $14.95 ground shipping for a 2 lb package from NY to NC is highway robbery, but oh well

I did that particular shot with a tripod and self-timer mode. Handheld at 300mm was hit or miss though. I'd say that it was 50/50.

Why should I give a sh!t if it has a stripe or not. If Sigma wanted to mock Canon, then so be it. I bought the lens to take pictures, not to bicker about who uses a red stripe or not. That's pettiness

They're probably just consolidating on parts. Same basic lens for Canon mount.

It's probably cheaper to produce 1,000,000 lens with a red ring than to produce two seperate batches; 500,000 with and 500,000 without. I could be wrong, but whatever.
