I ordered a 2001 Tacoma PreRunner V-6 Feb 14...they told me it would arrive at the port on the 19th...ready for delivery this weekend (no later than the 23rd)...

Now, they can't even tell me if it's still sea stock or if it hit the port or even where it is!

I'm sooooo aggravated, I'm thinking about writing off my deposit and going somewhere else.

And of course, they haven't called me ONCE to keep me updated...

Frustrated,
AJ

Update: They have been unable to actually locate the truck and have finally admitted to having no idea when it will arrive....is this possible? Can a dealer/Toyota not keep track of a 20K+ truck!?

Toyata sucks in general, some ASS hit my drivers side mirror so I go to toyota to get it replaced, $150 for the parts and $100 for labor. Then when i get it back they say: this mount is bent we can't fix that we don't do body work. Then they refered me to a body ship that they probably get kick backs from. Gee i just paid you dicks $100 to do nothing, i'll hafta pay a body shop to take it off and put it on again! "O did we forget to mention that?"

Ok here's a nother situation: atenna motor keeps running even when the thing is all the way up, i pay them $100 to tighten some cover, 6 months later its jacked again, they replace the motor and atenna mass this time, then they tried to charge me $100 for diagnosis fee! I yelled at them and they finally didn't charge me for that.

I'm talking about stevens creek toyota in CA, STAY AWAY WORST SERVICE EVER! Toyota will be getting some letters from me! And the next time i get a customer survey card I'll screw the free oil change that i would get for giving the dealership the card, they will get poors in every category!

Do all car dealerships suck?

I know in the Tampa Bay area, Clearwater Toyota has a bunch of jackarses working for them! I had to walkout on them when looking for a truck.

Anyone in the TB Area know of a good Toyota dealer?

The Mr got his 2000 Tacoma PreRunner V-6 at the one on Florida Ave. in Tampa. He is head over heels in love with that truck.

His experience was pretty good, more or less.

If you have any questions for him, PM me and I'll make him answer. ;)

The ones in the Northeast are not that much better. I'm lucky I never needed major service since they seem to botch oil changes. Crappy delerships is one reason I got rid of my Toyota.

All the dealings I've had with Toyota dealers in the Southeast District have been godawful. Had warranty work done in Mobile, AL, and they scrached the car. Took one in for a faulty sensor in Melbourne, FL, and all they wanted to do was change the spark plugs(they were changed about 5,000 ago). Couldn't find the faulty sensor.

Found the sales departments about the same. If I ever decide to buy a new one again I will fly to another district before I give the Southeast Toyota area my business.

Toyota dealers suck in general. My dad has a Toyota Camry, and he says that the service at the local Toyota dealer is really poor, what annoys him the most is that the salespeople are arrogance jackasses.

A wider approach...does anyone have any positive experiences with *any* car dealer? (Anything in the Tamap Bay area would be nice...)

What normally happens, is that some fool will order a vehicle, putting down a sizable downpayment. Then they don't communicate with this fellow. When the vehicle comes in, or even prior to the vehicle comes in, they will already have it sold to someone else. It's easier to sell a vehicle when its in front of a customer, and they can usually get a higher price. Then, they will order you another one. Who cares if you have to wait another month, they already have your money! I've seen this trick played time and time again.

There's a Dodge dealer in vacaville that kept my dad on a waiting list for 4 months until a particular option (6 speed+cummins) became available, then kept him up to date for the next 4 until it was delivered. Ended up paying $500 over dealer's cost. (the guy deals mostly in fleet, he works by flat rate)

Edit: and this was a $35k truck (that gets real truck use)

It's funny isn't it? Don't expect things to get any better after delivery. After an accident, mine was sent for repairs. The truck was gone for six weeks and no one seemed to know where it was. At one point I was told the work was all done and I could pick up the truck as soon as they locate it. WHAT?!? It's not like misplacing a pencil. 5000lb trucks don't disappear into thin air. Took them a week to figure out they parked it in a remote secton of a lot. IDIOTS!!!

Ouch, thanks for the comments--not very encouraging, but hey, I figure if I call and bitch enough something might happen, right?

Any ideas on what I should do? Be passive and hope for a call or get aggressive and pissed?

Thanks,
AJ

If you ask for your deposit back they might find it real fast. Or at least come up with another truck to your liking.

I've been working in dealerships for the past 8 years.

They all suck. In every way possible. Service, Sales, Accounting... you name it. They suck.

I waited 6 weeks for my Prelude SH a couple years ago. I wasn't in a rush so I didn't mind but when I found the car in another dealer I canceled my old order and got it there.

I went through hell trying to get my deposit back. Fortunately, my lawyer friend helped me out. He said it is reasonable to wait 4 weeks on a popular model but any longer and you have the right to cancel.

Now if only they can get my M3 which I put a deposit down on last March, when the stock market was up, I'd be happy.

Yes TOYOTA DEALERS SUCK!

I have a 95' Camry and was hearing a clicking sound as I accelerated, so I thought, maybe I should bring it in and get it checked out. It was a Friday so they told me that I would have to leave the car there over the weekend in order to receive an estimate. So I decided to leave it there for the weekend since I don't use my car often on campus anyway. I give them a call on Monday and they give me the run down on what's wrong. They conclude the conversation with a "Oh and by the way, it seems as though your radio has been stolen." My dash console(cig lighter included) was all gone, my 2 amps and sub were all gone. They said that they were definitely not respondible for any lsot items. I was furious. Had to get lawyer and insurance agents to get on their case. Finally after about 4 months, they responded and paid for me to get a new system. I won't be going back there.
