this is for st. petersburg FL, near tyrone square mall

I have been using internet Junction for over 6 years now and have loved their service, but as brighthouse wont renew their contract for the use of their cable, IJ cant offer cable internet to customers anymore. so i am looking for a good allternative.

i have tried DSL, and every time it rains, my net would be out for a day, it would take a LOT for me to go back to dsl. (and i was about 8000 ft from the CO, spec is 10k, or was it 15k?)

IJ recommends earthlink, because ANYTHING is better than bright house, and they seem to be on top.

my questions are what providers offer what hardware, hows the customer service, connection quality (shouldnt matter as its all BH's equipment, correct me if im wrong), and also speeds.. i want upload rather than download, gotta keep my voice servers happy. also price is a factor, the more i save now the more i can pay for FIOS, (i wish they would hurry the heck up)

ive allready started trolling around dsl reports and stuff, but would like some recommendations from everybody.

does anybody know when knology's contract for pinellas county is up so verizon can take over? fios makes me drool

as for dsl, rumor has it that IJ has a fibre bank running right down a nearby street, but numbers are still saying that im aeound 8k away from a CO, which is the same at the other house that dropped the net every time it rained. can any1 in the azalea/northwest nieborhood confirm good service?

its a shot in the dark but i might as well try. lol

I'm in St. Pete and use Earthlink cable. You order it from Brighthouse. It almost never goes out. I signed up at the Circuit city near tyrone on a special.

Tamponian, here. Stick w/ the Brighthouse.

I thought I was slick by dumping cable for dish and DSL. The Verizon DSL was up and down like a yo-yo. And I'm three blocks from the CO.

The cable would go down sometimes, but not as much as the DSL. And the cable was noticably faster.

I don't see the point of getting service from a third party like AOL, Earthlink, IJ, etc. It's all the same network. You talk about customer service, but cable is one of those things that either works or it doesn't. Support can only tell you if there's an outage or not. Beyond that, they only walk you through a bunch of BS steps that don't add up to much anyways. ;)

FIOS sounds great, but they only have it out East (Valrico, Brandon, along Rt. 60)

North Pinellas County here. I use BrightHouse/RoadRunner. Really isnt a reason to have EL or AOL anymore. Cable modem killed the dial-up star! Cable in Pinellas County is better than DSL I think.

I live in the same area as JonnyGURU?? I feel so special! I knew there was a reason I liked his website and reviews. ::grins::
