Talking to yourself

I'm sitting here in my cube perusing Anandtech and the guy in the cube adjacent to me every once in a while will talk to himself -and- answer his own questions out loud? Why does he do that? It creeps me out.

To the OP, creep him out in return. Everytime he answers his own question, peek over the wall and ask him if he's sure about that... then sit back down and ignore his replies to you while humming 'hail to the cheif', slapping your ears, and rocking back and forth in your chair.

I do that all the time. I need to move into a louder office environment, I'm already seen as socially retarded as it is. 🙂

I sometimes imagine that I'm talking to someone I know and using them as a sounding board. for me, at least, it helps me to clarify things as opposed to just having them bounce around my head in a vacuum.

What kinds of questions? If it's work-related, it wouldn't creep me out. If he starts asking himself what color his panties are, I'd find a supervisor.

It's not work related. It's pretty much about anything. It 'can' be work related, but usually he'll say things like "So what if I decided to pick this option? Interest rate too high" out of nowhere.

I like this answer 🙂

Dont remember answering myself but as I have gotten older and lost alot of my patience I have started talking to myself.

I talk to myself all the time as a way of dealing with the thousands of details I track on a daily basis. I'm aware that I do it though.

ATOT sure has alot of creeps 😛 I cant talk to myself out loud... I feel horrible, like Im insane or something... I cant even sing because of that, I only talk comfortably when there someone actually listening, or else I just keep it to myself

I do the same thing because it helps me organize my thoughts.

I only have a problem when I start arguing with myself and then lose the argument. THAT is when things get ugly!

Yeah, exactly. I'll run through a longer string of logic out loud. I don't usually answer, but at the same time if someone else answers my questions I usually won't hear them because I'm so deep in thought.
