For those who don't know, i work at the brokerage division of a large bank. I get a call today from one of our field representatives, asking how to process a deposit. Not a problem i say, what are you trying to deposit?

Papa John's coupons.

We had a client trying to deposit pizza coupons into their account. In fairness, they do say on them "cash value 1/100th cent" and he did have quite a few sheets with six coupons per page. I can even see an older client with dementia trying to deposit something odd into their account. But one of our employees trying to figure out how to deposit a "$1 off a large two topping" ?

It means you could actually redeem it for that amount by sending it back to the manufacturer, from what I've heard. I believe it's required by law that the coupon actually be worth some monetary amount, but obviously 1/100th of a cent isn't going to be worth redeeming a coupon for.

They should just write no cash value like on the back of arcade tokens, but I say arcade tokens is a way to screw you when you run across a game that costs 3 tokens, but got only 2 left, then you gotta buy another $1 worth since the machine doesn't take quarters.

1/100 of a cent , so 100 coupons is 1 cent, so 10000 is $1? Quite a few sheets with 6 each, thats quite the effort to just make himself a few cents.

Somes laws say that if they don't claim a worth to the coupon, you can request from the company the face value of the discount.

Call their boss and have them fired. Sounds like they are a complete liability to the company. No morons would ever work for me.

Agreed. You should have also told him that since the bank rounded everything down, if he didn't have 100 of them, he can just drop the amount down to 0 instead of rounding it up to 1 cent.

BooGiMaN.... seriously?

That's more stupid than going to McDonald's and asking for Chicken Nuggets without chicken. Or redeeming Disney money at Six-Flags. Or wearing a jock strap when you are female. Or smoking dandelions instead of the real thing.

hell yeah!! i want my damn penny i tell you :p

naaah but it does amaze me the amount and types of disclaimers products have to have because of the sheer number of idiots in our world

My bank would take the coupons and credit my account 1 penny and then charge me a 29$ returned deposit charge the next day.
