I admit it, I'm scared. >>makes sissy/wussy face<<
I have a spankin' new Maxtor 60GB hard drive to replace my 40GB Western Digital. The Maxtor is currently my Primary Slave, with nothing (not even partitioned) on it. The WD is my Primary Master with NTFS (Win XP) I want the Maxtor as my main drive. I would like to replicate the WD 40 to the Maxtor 60 and then use the Maxtor 60 as my Primary Master. I would rather not re-install WinXP as I have it the way I like it. The WD is starting to worry me (clicking) and I would like to do the swap.
I have Ghost and Drive Image 2002. I think Drive Image may be my best choice (I have read alot of horror stories about Ghost) Has anyone done this?

Ghost has worked better for me than drive image. Though for full XP support I think you need ghost 2003 or corporate 7.0. Hope the maxblast thing works for you.

Well, after letting Maxblast3 run all night, there was an error copying files from the source drive. I will try Drive Image later today (after I run CHKDSK and DEFRAG on the WD.) I do like the Maxblast software. There is a lot you can do with it and it has a nice GUI. I am beginning to think that I will be re-installing XP on my new drive though. :(

In the options for ghost, you can tell it to ignore bad sectors. This is helpful to force the drive copy. Then, at the worst, you can reinstall over the top and have everything there.
