My roommate was looking for a nice projector to play a high resolution animation he is doing. He finally hunted one down that was capable of the resolutions he wanted.

It cost $225,000

I have not seen it in action.

From the reviews i've read, the quality is very good so long as you use either S-Video or Component sources to feed it.

I already watch movies on a regular basis, and it would be even moreso with this projector.

Hmmm, I didn't really have any plans for the money I have saved... 🙂

Replacement bulbs will set you back $200-$500 =D

So you will be spending that much every 9 months or so for your projector.

make sure you only watch DVDs on it...VHS + Projector = sucks

I don't even own a VCR. 😉

lol me neither...but my parents own a vcr and a projector and its painful when they decide to pull out their old VHS movies and watch it...especially for a videophile like myself.

it depends on how often he uses it...if he wants this as his only TV then he'll have to replace it as often as once a year. If he uses it just 2 hours a day it will last 2-3 years.
Less from there.

IF you buy it make sure to pay for it using a premium cc (Visa, Amex, MC) which offers a free extra year of warranty coverage.

What I would like to do is mount a compact screen into my current wall unit that pulls straight down in front of my current 32" TV.

This way, if i'm just watching general TV the screen can be raised up and I can watch my normal CRT which saves bulb life dramatically. 🙂

Good idea.

My Citibank MC will automatically tack on a free extra year! 🙂
