I am listening to an Beatles CD compilation (The Beatles 1967-1970) album.

Anyway I have it on Vinyl but for a long time havent heard it on that partly because Vinyl is old skool. Either case I never realised how clear a digitally remastered cd sounds.
The stereo seperation is awesome even for an MP3 (I rip my most liked cd's to MP3's so I can listen anytime and from anywhere I have a net connection).

Anyway I just wanted to say the stereo seperation is awesome. I havent heard so good stereo seperation in ages.. sure once in a while only one ear plays but that is the beauty of stereo.
 
They actually started that because they originally had 1 Inch 2 Track, so they would print Vocals on one track, and Instruments on the other. When the stuff was sent to the Dup house for Parlaphone the British Mixes weren't mixed to Mono, but the American (Capital, DeeJay stuff) Mixes were. Kind of an accident at first, that started a whole trend. Very cool seperation, NOBODY does it like that anymore.

Vinyl is head and shoulders above CD... IF you can afford the equipment to play it on.

I remember when I started working in a hi-fi shop and I was a "spec" man. Then they taught me to sit down and really, really listen instead. After a while, I could always tell a cold, sterile, almost mono-sounding CD from an album... problem is that I was listening on systems that could cost as much as 20 or 30 thousand dollars! With the equipment I owned at that time, I could still tell a difference, but not as dramatic.

Now, 15 or so years later and with 4 kids in the house and my gear stowed for safety... CD's blow away vinyl... but I look forward to the day when all my kids are 10 years old or older (youngest just turned 4) and I can break out the gear and my almums and jam again!

BTW... Beatles really are great, aren't they?
