Oh, I didn't realise they were owned by GM, why dont they use the Opel or Vauxhall name? Why Saturn? Or was Saturn an established brand that they brought out a while back?

saturn has always been a GM brand, but up until recently was pretty much completely separate from the rest of GM. bob lutz has repositioned it to be an upmarket brand from chevy and pontiac... sort of the younger, trendier version of buick.

I see... And has it worked? Whats the general reaction of the majority to the brand?

Ya, completely unncessary for a commuter vehicle. However, if he was planning on putting it up for show only (which by the remarks of some, why would he show a Saturn-type car), it's an amazing job based on the pics. That car is clean and smooth beyond comparison. Definitely a professional job if I've ever seen it.

Can't wait to see that car hit the streets here as a Saturn.

Is that going to be the new ION?

Probably not, maybe similar styling though. Currently it has the front fascia of the Aura with some other cosmetic bits.

It is the new "Ion."

It's called the Saturn Astra now:

The VXR is just the tricked out version.

Im suprised at how much of a direct copy Saturn cars are of Vauxhall/Opel. They don't even change the interior or anything! Wow

Why are you surprised? Vauxhall/Opel is GM as you probably already know.

I'm about 1/3 of the way done with this and I've already LOL'd several times.

All that work and it will be dirty again within 5 minutes of hitting the road :Q

Think of all the work that goes into making a gourmet meal and its gone in 5-10 minutes. Lots of people have hobbies that seem silly or wasteful at first glance. He obviously enjoys his. Good on him...

I'd agree with you if he was doing all the work himself but he's paying someone else to essentially wax it. IMO, what he did was over the top.

Link works for me now. I thought that wax only cost ~$2000, and you get free refills for life?

All that work on a $200,000 supercar: stunning.

All that work on a Astra: stupidity.

Let's pray his car never sees road salt, stone chips, etc. I'm not sure what his OCD ass would do then.
