Red, i got pissed because no one said a word when he likened me to convicted torturers while i have said many times that i am completely against waterboarding and continually stated that it is torture. I also stated that the horseshoe and bottle route between Basra and Kabul isn't one we can take since we cannot condone that treatment it had resulted in.
It is hard for me, given my efforts to explain to people in this forum what i am about, not to tell this fuck up of a twat to shut it, especially when he can't even keep Hamas and Hisballah separate and then tries to backtrack and try to prove me wrong when i KNOW i am right yet again.

For the first time in +20 years Afghanistan is a fairly well governed country, but since you love to spout every crime as the destruction i'm sure you disagree, even though you know absolutely nothing, never been there and i have lived here for the past 8 months.

I did respond to your post. I actually agreed with you. The taliban should be defeated. Just because I didn't go down the path of "horrors committed by said group" doesn't mean I didn't respond. If you think your professional life gives you some kind of authority to shape the conversation, it doesn't. In fact I would argue that your profession clouds your judgment.

Just to be clear on my stance towards soldiers in the field. I generally don't agree in using violence but I don't fault soldiers for defending themselves. I do fault the policy makers for putting them in that situation in the first place. The way in which we use violence in this world has absolutely no regard for its ramifications a decade or 2 down the road. I do believe the death penalty should be used on said leaders if they are found that, through there incompetence thousands of people die. A couple of these chicken hawk politicians swinging from the gallows would certainly put an end to our "noble and romantic" ideas of war.
