When I was in high school I worked at a kids summer camp as a dishwasher. Part of my duties was to be the official gofer if something was needed. One morning the cooks found out that they had forgotten to put koolade on their weekly order, and we were completely out. Normally we used gigantic industrial packs of the stuff, but since time was short they sent me to the local grocery to pick up as many of the regular small packets as possible.

So at the grocery I carted about a zillion of the little packets up to the typical high-school-cheerleader-dingbat-working-the-front-register. She started scanning them one at a time. I pointed out that it would be a lot easier and less time consuming to push the "quantity" key, enter the quantity, then scan one packet. She gave me the sort of look one would expect if I had just explained the minutae of quantum physics to a chimp. Half an hour later, she finally finished scanning the last packet.

Hoorah for the idiots!

There was a girl in my high school astronomy class. She was something else, seriously. We were watching Deep Impact one day, and at the end of the movie she goes, "Was that based on a true story?" And she asked it kinda quiet to one of her friends cause she was seriously asking and not just trying to make a joke. Simply amazing...

A lot of people think that means "regarding" or "in reference to".

Years ago when I worked for Pesicola Bottling company, I was working along side a fellow that had worked there for 15 years. Well, a couple of days earlier the minimum wage went from $2.75 to $3.15 an hour (showing my age now), anyway, this guy walked up to me beaming with pride and told me that his 15 years of loyal service finally paid off and he just got a 40 cents an hour raise! I was only about 20 at the time and burst his bubble by telling him that the minimum raise went up. Had been a little older I would have let him just enjoy the feeling.

i heard this story from a friend, i wasn't there, but i like it anyway...

So my friend was in political systems, and in the text book there is a picture of 4 flags all being blown the same way, the teacher decides to ask the class to raise their hands and say why they are all going the same way, the class immediatly responds with because the wind is blowing without raising their hands, but one person had her hand up, and the teacher was annoyed because he said raise your hand, and said so, but he called on the girl and she said "Oh, i had another answer."

This thread just jogged loose a memory from the paleolithic - my freshman year in HS  It was in earth science, we were learning about volcanos and how they form land. The real-world example was Hawaii; a new island was forming as we spaek, our teacher told us. A sophomore who had failed and was retaking it raised her hand and asked what they were going to name it
